Being born and raised in Boston, I pronounce his first name: Elmah
No "R's" at the end please!
Hey, if he were from NY, it should by Boynsteen!
Correct you are Sir!

Not everyone from New York is from Brooklyn.

That's right, hop over a borough or two and it's Bynesteen.

Regarding name pronunciation, William is spot on here. I can vouch for it from experience.

Okay, that's fine for Elmer and Leonard ... and presumably Peter uses the same pronunciation as his father.
But what about Charles (
Mr. Majestyk, Excessive Force
et al.)?
I used to have a recording of a concert performed by Elmer in which the presenter/announcer clarified this matter ...
... but it's so long ago that I can't now be certain (put it down to my age). I think it was
...steen
I've had a similar issue with my surname and accept alternate versions based on whether the "a" is pronounced short or long.

Short, obviously. There's no "R" in it...

In Germany they'd pronounce it BAIRN-SCHTYNE.
