Yes indeed. The new 4K Twilight Time "Journey to the Center of the Earth" is, in a word, fabulous. The previous release was OK -- I didn't find it as troublesome as some other reviewers and fans.

But the new blu-ray is just about perfect -- a stunning improvement over the old release -- and the sound has been upgraded as well. For me, watching it last night was like seeing the film for the first time when I was a kid. Heck, it probably looks better than when I saw it in a theater back then.

(The blu-ray of "First Men in the Moon" is also gorgeous!).

Great transfer and that made it worth the repurchase! I have to confess though, the commentary track was a letdown because Diane Baker I am sure is a nice lady but I wasn't interested in hearing all the digressions about other parts of her career given how minimal her role in the film was. If you were going to get a surviving cast member, Arlene Dahl or Pat Boone would have been more inclined to keep the focus on the film itself.

I have the same complaint about the commentary track and, in fact, Baker herself says at least twice, "I'm not talking about the film enough," but Herrmann biographer and third party in the track, Steven C. Smith, encourages her to keep talking. It's very frustrating for someone who wants to know as many details about the production as possible, especially given the long running time. It was for the most part a wasted opportunity, still many things did get mentioned, though sadly very fleetingly. As far as Arlene Dahl and Pat Boone though, I strongly suspect they wanted compensation for participating in the commentary, and I just as strongly suspect that Baker did it for no compensation.

This would be a great score to re record with a modern day orchestra

I think you mean modern day recording technology, the Fox orchestra was as good as any orchestra then or now. It won't happen, too expensive & not enough buyers, it's been a favourite score of mine for decades & I wouldn't buy it. We have the original score sounding great, a bit dated, but still great, & an all too short suite recorded in the seventies for Decca Phase 4, again conducted by the composer, & thankfully he didn't conduct at his usual slow speed for this one.

Oh & the new 4k transfer Blu-ray looks great, I'm very glad I bought it, unfortunately it's sold out now.
