I'd like one as well, but do we have to go through the whole intractability-of-CBS thing again?

Count me in, but I think it would require more than a 4 cd box set to be complete. The series ran for 4 years, so maybe it might be more like the STTOS box set, with 8 or 10 discs or more to be complete. Of course, I'll be happy to get whatever is released.

How did "jkannry" know (more than 2 years ago) that the TV music from The Wild Wild West would materialize in a 4-CD box set?

Sorry, shadowman, but La-La Land's TWWW will not be 8 or 10 discs; you're gonna hafta settle with only a 4-CD limited edition. smile

Well, of course we now know that what is presently available is only a 4 cd set. But how do we know that there won't be future cd sets issued? It could be that if this current set sells well, maybe there will be future volumes made available. Perhaps Matt or M.V. can comment on this.

Probably jkannry is a Nostradamus in the world of Soundtracks ... lol ... maybe he figured it out because the series had 4 seasons ... but he could be wrong about the number of CDs, of course ... anyway, it really was amazing the supposition from our fellow Nostradamus ... lol

Unfortunately, this kind of vintage music doesn't sell well: see the case of Mission: Impossible as a reference.

Back in the days of the FSM label, the series music would have had three volumes: see the case The Man from U.N.C.L.E. as a reference. But that's another era.

Farewell Mundell Lowe, Johnny Parker, Robert Prince, Morton Stevens which are the composers not represented on this set as well as those under-represented as Jack Pleis and Harry Geller.

Yes, but U.N.C.L.E. was only 6 discs total over 3 volumes, including a disc of Girl From and the Goldsmith re-recordings for the 4th season. so this WWWest 4 disc set is closer than it may seem to the scale of the U.N.C.L.E. releases. (And yes, I know there's the movie disc too, but given how much material is repeated from the three sets, that's more like a highlights disc plus.)

If this set is all we ever get from WWW, I will still be well satisfied. Had almost given up hope on this music ever getting released.

Good points all, but I'm not giving up hope yet that we will see at least one more volume if not more from WWW, and until M.V. or Matt weighs in on this (if they do), I will keep holding out hope.

Hey, me too! I'm happy to hold out hope. I'd love more Wild Wild West. I've been watching some of the first season episodes for the first time in many years, and every episode has striking music.

I'm just so excited about what's coming that I'm not worried about subsequent volumes right now. (But I am hoping against hope for a quick sell out.)

You all have to promote the W3 set through many channels and communities.

Yes, I snapped up LALAs WWW and I too would love to see one more volume that contains any Morton Stevens material as well as other output from other Composers such as Robert Prince and Mundell Lowe.

Here's to hoping....:-)

I received my copy of this 4 disc masterpiece in the mail today. "The Night Of The Inferno" sounds excellent in stereo. I was surprised to see so few third and fourth season scores represented. The notes by Jon Burlingame mentioned the CBS music library at UCLA is mislabeled and incomplete. So these may represent the best of what was available. I was hoping for some Morton Stevens music.

I think it's fantastic that more classic TV music gets released!

I'm just starting to get to know the series and was wondering if there was tracked music in it as well? Is anybody here familiar enough with the show to know?
Just watched "The Night of the Bleak Island" and there's some excellent music in there!

Yes, many episodes feature stock music from other series (Gunsmoke, Cimarron Strip).
The most obvious examples are during season 3:
"The Night of the Montezuma's Hordes", "The Night of the Arrow", "The Night of the Vipers".

Oh that's interesting that they even used music from other shows and not just from their own. I remember music editors on Mission Impossible doing an incredible job to make that shows' music fit several episodes.

You won't happen to know if "The Night of the Bleak Island" had tracked music in it? But even if it did I guess it's unreleased anyway as I don't recall any releases for Gunsmoke, etc.

Does any of the discs include the score for the episode that Sammy Davis Jr. appeared in that was scored by his erstwhile bandleader (and C.B.S. West Coast Music Director) Morton Stevens?

That would be Season Two's "The Night of the Returning Dead". Sadly no music is represented. The episode credits list Morton Stevens & Harry Geller. So I'm assuming it was tracked from existing scores.

The season 4 "The Night of the Bleak Island" has no original score and
among the stock music for "The Night of the Bleak Island", find:

season 4 scores
Shores' "The Night of the Sedgewick Curse" (dominating music)
Shores' "The Night of the Big Blackmail"
Shores' "The Night of the Kraken"
Pleis' "The Night of the Gruesome Games"
season 3 score
Markowitz's "The Night of the Jack O'Diamonds"
season 2 score
Drasnin's "The Night of the Man-Eating House"

I hope that helps to satisfy your curiosity.
