I agree that Jesse Eisenberg looks surprisingly fitting as Luthor, although I do miss the days when "older" people could play heroes and villains too (like the 48-year-old Gene Hackman in the original movie).

Daniel Craig is playing Bond at 47. Robert Downey Jr is one of the biggest hero stars in the world at 49. Ben Affleck is not quite up there but is no spring chicken either playing Batman at 42.

I don't know about Daniel Craig, but part of the problem is they still look and act like kids.
For the most part it's been the extremes, kids playing adult roles or grandpa's playing young action hero roles. I feel they miss the mark in both cases.
Just for an example, Hawaii Five-O and the reboot. Jack Lord had a commanding authoritative presence and was believable in the role. Alex O'Loughlin? Give me a break! It's like the Tiny Toons version.
Robert Redford: Captain America: Winter Soldier Jeff Bridges: Iron Man Christopher Walz: Spectre Javier Bardem: Skyfall Ian McKellen: Numerous X-Men movies Samuel L. Jackson: Kingsman William Hurt and Tim Roth: Incredible Hulk
And those are off the top of my head. As I recall, none of these qualify as millennials.
