I came across this book on the making of OHMSS. Has anyone read it?

I owned the book for a while and read it twice, plus browsed its many (glorious) photographs numerous times.

I was excited to get it - the film being one of my two favourite JB007 films - but, whilst it is clearly a work of love by its author and his dedication in getting such a publication to market should be recognised ... it left me less than wholly satisfied. I'm not sure what I was expecting but this book wasn't quite it!

Part of the problem, for me, is well explained by the 3* reviewer on the Amazon page. I like the film a lot more than he appears to but his critique of the book re: editing is spot-on.

In summary, a publication like this has got to cost a lot but it's a shame that the end product appears expensive.

There is a second publication, same author/format for The Living Daylights (another of my favourite JB007 films).

Despite some amateur writing The Making of OHMSS is one of the essential Bond histories. In the top two. The typos don't compromise the research, documentation or narrative, but there are so many, the author should be embarrassed. It's annoying. I'll have to get the companion volume on The Making of The Living Daylights. Let's hope the author has learned from his mistakes in the first book. A little editorial expertise doesn't cost much.

The extended version appears to have gone up in value, here and there. Has this started to become scarce? I've noticed Thunderball has gone down in price but is still relatively expensive, because there are more sellers competing.

Does this mean Thunderball is the most popular Bond to tune in to, followed by OHMSS?

Edit - this should really be on the other side. Unfortunately, when searching for old thread titles there's no way of knowing which discussion forum it came from initially.
