I never watched this Zombie drama that was shown on BBC3 in 2013 & 2014.
If I had known Ed Butt had scored it prior to it's showing, I probably would have tuned in, cos I have really liked what I have heard by this composer.
His music for the 3 part nature doc YELLOWSTONE is fantastic and I wish someone would release a CD of that music.
Anyway, Silva Screen are releasing his music from IN THE FLESH this April, so I'm curious.
Did anyone see this series?
If so, how was the music?
Cheers.

I've just played the sample tracks at his Cool Music website and this will deffo be a purchase from me when it's released.
I loved the lonely flute theme in the opening track.
The other two tracks are a bit more modern or experimental, but offer enough interest for me to listen further. I also liked the string/guitar work in the latter half of track 3 (EB06 on the website).

Yeah, I've seen the whole show, and was disappointed when the cancellation was confirmed a few months ago. Loved it.

However, the music didn't make much of an impression, and having just received the promo it confirmed that. Except for a cue or two, there isn't that much interesting going on beyond the obligatory thriller gimmick.

To each their own, I guess.
I really like those 3 sample tracks.

If it ever released. His stuff is notoriously unreleased. Sure not his fault but...

21. Charon – Keaton Henson - 3'48"
22. You – Keaton Henson - 4'43"

I played it a few days ago. The main thing I remember was the prominent use of acoustic (Spanish?) guitar in several tracks, giving it quite a melancholic flavour.

If I had known Ed Butt had scored it prior to it's showing, I probably would have tuned in, cos I have really liked what I have heard by this composer.

I also recommend his music for "An adventure in space and time" which depicts the beginnings of Doctor Who. Also a lovely bit of writing from Mark Gatiss and very well cast too.

Here's a nice example but ignore the last 7 or 8 seconds (people dressed up as aliens trying to persuade you to subscribe to the channel) as that has nothing to do with this bit of the programme smile

Thanks Jo. I already have the Space/Time CD and very nice it is too.
I still haven't gotten 'round to watching the BBC drama yet, it's still in my Tivo Library!!

Finally got around to giving this CD a proper listen.
One could be forgiven, on hearing the first two tracks, tuning out as they are perfect examples of the modern sample/drone technique infecting film and TV music today!
However, from track 3 onwards, things improve markedly.
Some lovely sad, reflective and melancholic music ensues. Real high-class quality from Butt.
I'd love to see this guy score some bigger projects and make a real name for himself in the film world.
