FRIDAY, MARCH 27

THE BILLIONAIRE'S VINEGAR---Matthew McConaughey will star in this Sony Pictures movie based on the book about the controversial auction of the world's most expensive bottle of wine. In 1985, a bottle of 1787 Château Lafite Bordeaux, that was supposedly owned by Thomas Jefferson, was sold to a member of the Forbes family for $156,000, but later the bottle was determined to be a fake.

COACH---NBC ordered 13 episodes of the sequel to the Craig T. Nelson sitcom. The sequel is set 18 years after the original series and has Nelson returning as Coach Hayden Fox, who is coming out of retirement to be an assistant coach for his son who is a football coach at an Ivy League school. Barry Kemp, the creator of the original series, will be the executive producer/writer of the sequel. The original series ran on ABC from 1989-1997.

DOWNTON ABBEY---executive producer Gareth Neame said a theatrical movie is possible after the series ends with Season 6,"Our position on that is we would be very interested in that. It is definitely something we're contemplating. It would be great fun to do. I think it would be a wonderful extension of everything that people loved about the TV show, but I can't confirm that it's definitely going to happen. We shall see."
He added that a spinoff tv series is unlikely, "There are no plans to make a spinoff. There's been endless speculation about this, but there are no definite plans for a spinoff. Again, I couldn't rule it out."

MANHATTAN---William Petersen (CSI) will join the cast as Col. Emmett Darrow, the military commander of the Manhattan Project.

VIKINGS---History renewed the series for Season 4.

OUT CAME THE SUN---Mariel Hemingway says in her upcoming memoir that Woody Allen attempted to seduce her after her 18th birthday. Hemingway was 16 when she filmed MANHATTAN with Allen in 1979. After Allen invited Hemingway to a trip to Paris, she asked him, “I’m not going to get my own room, am I?" When she realized she would be sharing a room with Allen, she declined the trip, and Allen left for Paris on his personal jet.

TEMPLE---horror movie from co-producer Gene Simmons, formerly of Kiss, in which a special ops team is sent to a military compound to investigate the disappearance of a previous team and discovers a "strange and horrific phenomena".

Don't get me wrong, I am all about someone having their guilty pleasure shows and shows they love and all that.

But Coach seems like a really damn odd choice to bring back for NBC.

I'd say Woody dodged a bullet, there.
