Irony is the type of humor so many on this board just don't seem to "get." I've posted some HILARIOUS stuff and some just take what is obviously meant to be absurd as literal.
Definition of irony:
1.
a: the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning
b: a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony
c: an ironic expression or utterance
2.
a(1): incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result
(2): an event or result marked by such incongruity
The fact is the Main Theme opening figure is a very simple one. It's bound to resemble many pieces composed prior to it because it's firmly rooted in diatonicism with the root moving to a major 7th and back. Hence my joke since it's ridiculous to vilify Williams for this.
It was actually amusing how some people got so offended by something so overtly silly.
Yeah it was an early April Fool's joke. I was in fact listening to the Shosty 8th and it did strike me that it kind of reminded me of Jurassic Park but as most of you know, it's silly to go crazy over these superficial similarities given the limits of the 12 tone equal tempered western tuning system. Especially when working in a diatonic framework.
I thought most would get the humor especially coming from me. Oh well...
