The full details of the soundtrack album for the family adventure Max have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Trevor Rabin (Remember the Titans, Armageddon, National Treasure, Gone In 60 Seconds, Con Air). The soundtrack will be released on June 23, 2015 by Sony Classical and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Max is directed by Boaz Yakin and stars Josh Wiggins, Lauren Graham, Thomas Haden Church, Robbie Amell, Luke Kleintank and Jay Hernandez. The MGM production follows a young teen from a family dealing with loss, who finds friendship, comfort and adventure with the heroic military dog of his fallen brother, a United States Marine who served his country on the frontlines of the war in Afghanistan. The movie will be released nationwide on June 26 by Warner Bros. Pictures. Visit the official movie website for updates.

It's a short CD...38 minutes.
It's quite a modest orchestra too (about 35 players), with Rabin's customary keyboards and guitar added to the mix.
It's a bit hit and miss, ranging from fairly ordinary, perfunctory modern-style scoring to some inspired tracks with a more traditional approach.
From two plays so far, what it's really crying out for is a memorable main theme!
Nothing has really stuck so far...although as I type, Bike Ride has a nicy cheesy 80's orch/synth combo going on.
I've liked Rabin in the past - THE GREAT RAID, FLYBOYS, GLORY ROAD, REMEMBER THE TITANS = all great - this one sounds less inspired thus far, but who knows, it might be a grower?
Oh..and from the cover, it looks like Chappie-Dog.

With each passing year, Trevor Rabin's old scores just get better and better, even average ones like this.
