Siegel is one of the "new breed" of directors who seems to be obsessed with violence, and so he rubs our faces in it to make us "sit up and take notice", I suppose. He will have his supporters among the younger crowd of hippies who will see it as a criticism of today's society - rather than seeing it as what it is: a celebration of sickening blood and guts, without a single redeeming feature. Ronald Reagan would be spinning in his grave at the very idea of this gore-fest, now that he has sensibly re-instated "family values" back into a formerly depraved USA since he became president."
