"Remember Idi Amin's barbecue?"
"How could I forgot?! The sauce!"

This is one of my favorite films from the 80s and it's my favorite non-Zemeckis Amblin Entertainment production. Now I'm wondering what to do with my DVD autographed by Robert Picardo. (It's personalized so I imagine only someone named Scott will want it.) smile

The Blu Ray looks great. Colors are warm, vibrant, the image is nice and sharp but doesn't look enhanced. there's a nice amount of film grain. And it sounds fantastic, Goldsmith's score really shines here, it is kind of a sad reminder how it used to be okay to have a thematic score and feature it prominently in the mix. The score really enhances the action, especially during the climax.

And the price is a bargain, too. Mine was just under $10 on Amazon.

Haven't been this pleased with a catalog release in a long time.

There are no new features, the entertaining commentary from the DVD is carried over and that's it . But that's fine since the movie itself still works .

That movie was a life-changer for me when it comes to going to the cinemas. When I watched that movie at the local cinema I had done something that I always had done on previous cinema visits and that was buying some standard cinema candy. But when I watched the (back then) very realistic special effects I didn`t feel so good because of the combination of those effects and the chocolate bar that I ate. So I had to excuse me to the bathroom before I could move on with the actual watching of the movie.

So that was something I don`t want to experience at the movie ever again. That lead me to make a promise that I have kept to this day, and that was never again eating candy while watching a movie at the cinemas.

About ten years ago I even wrote a book about that experience. A book that was an anthology book that was part of a project at film school in Stockholm when I studied to become a film critic. But no, I do not work as a film critic if you wonder.

So many lines I love, not so much because they are themselves hilarious, but because of the wonderful delivery - especially Kevin McCarthy, who probably had more fun doing this than anything since the staging of Happy Birthday, Wanda June.

"Never beg, NEVER beg!"

"We need those chips, and we need them now, more than ever!"

"In lieu of champagne, how about some real pain? Propane!"

"Get back in here you Safeway clerk!"

But so many more....

"He's in - Igoe's in!"

"You just digested the bad guy."

"Get me some hairspray, right away. ... Not mousse! Hairspray!"

"Listen sweetie, I don't carry that kind of cash around with me."

"Hi, Mr. Killer."

"Women love me. But you know that."

"....it's probably on account of my life sucking the way it does...."

"Eat me, drink me? What is that? From The Exorcist? No, Alice in Wonderland!"

My favorite moment from INNERSPACE isn't a line of dialogue. It occurs after Mr. Igoe has just killed Dr. Ozzie Wexler (performed hilariously by cinematographer John Hora). Mr. Igoe walks out of the mall and nonchalantly pops the little kid's balloon. I don't know why, it's just hilarious!

I ran this film (as a projectionist) in 70mm six-track Dolby Stereo. This was one of the sharpest, most sparkling blow-ups from 1.85 flat 35mm I ever ran...and let me tell you I ran a lot of them--including two very extended runs of my 70mm nemesis: "Out of Africa"--a real yellowie, mucky looking 70mm blow-up.

Can't wait for INNERSPACE! Loads of fun!

Amen! Plus, Ozzie's final moment as the last thing he sees is a goggle-eyed clown ushering him into eternity. Pure Dante. (Meaning both of 'em.)

I had no idea that was John Hora.
