Just got the email from Silva Screen Records five seconds ago:

"Doctor Who: Series 8 will be the first soundtrack release of music from the twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi, featuring the new Doctor’s theme A Good Man? (Twelve’s Theme).

This 3 disc set also includes the music from the episode Last Christmas and an extensive 24 page booklet with notes from Murray Gold. The score is performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Ben Foster and James Shearman and with Murray Gold on keyboards, guitars and synths.

The first 5000 copies of the CD will include an extra 16 page booklet depicting the 13 retro posters designed by Stuart Manning for Radio Times, one for each episode and be packaged in a slip case. All pre-ordered product on this store will include the extra booklet."

I haven't seen much of this season yet, but I'll certainly buy this. I'm surprised that there isn't more discussion about this here.

I found the majority of Series 8 music serviceable but unmemorable. Ironic this is the series that gets a 3 disc set.

2 discs for the season proper, and 1 for the Christmas special. That's the same as series 7, it's just that this time they're being packaged together.

I thought the scores for series 8 were marvellous. More low-key but also more driving. The 12th Doctor theme is just excellent.

Ah, I see. Thxs.

I thought the music was appropriate for the stories told, just not as excited about hearing the music away from the episodes.

I can't even recall the new doctor theme at the moment, but I'm ordering this in part as a vote for all things around the new doctor. I am almost astonished at how committed they were to going a different way with the doctor after so many years with the young/boyfriend style doctor (not that there was anything wrong with that). It's a brave move in this youth-driven culture, and I love what Capaldi and company are doing.

Plus I always hesitate to buy each of these season sets for years, then finally do, and say what the hell was I waiting for? This is some of the best music being written for ANY TV or movie right now. (Very easy to order directly from Silva from USA, that was a first for me.)

So will it have the new Capaldi title theme? I was miffed that that the Day of the Doctor set didn't have the Doctor Who theme.

Doubt it...I remember reading a last year that none of the new releases would have the Doctor Who Theme due to some legal reason. Don't remember specifics though.

There's got to be people working to fix this, right?
