Oh Joy, we're going to get a remake of a movie about a Ghost raping a Woman for 100 minutes and no one believing her...

That's going to be a feel good movie.

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.---Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood will star in the untitled ABC spinoff series.

Is this show really drawing big enough numbers to warrant a spin-off?

No, and I don't know how AOS is still on the air. I think they simply see the television series as an hour long commercial for the entire Marvel Universe brand.

Plenty of people watch, albeit not all of them when it actually airs. My wife and I both watch it on Hulu, shortly after; we never bother with regular broadcast TV any more. If it's doing okay numbers just from the broadcast alone, and additional ones from streaming and downloads, it's easy enough to see how it stays on, even before taking its promotional value for the movies into account.

I'm not complaining. I watch it and I enjoy it. But they're still figuring out how to get consistent numbers without movie tie-ins, seems a bit pre-mature to start launching tie-in shows.

Also I fear market oversaturation, with Agents of SHIELD, Agent Carter, and 1 or 2 spinoffs on ABC, plus the Netflix series -- even fans like myself will be hard pressed to find time to keep up with all of it!

It definitely can be hard to keep up with, and I am kind of surprised - especially after reception to Agents of SHIELD has been pretty 'meh' recently. The show has definitely improved in season 2, though. As a self-admitted fan, I would watch the spin-off, but it seems like they are getting to the point of "too many to keep up with" - unless they all air different seasons. Maybe they want Marvel on the air all year long.

And they are gonna do the same thing with the Star Wars franchise. Do we really need a whole movie about a bunch of rebels stealing the Death Star plans? It's absurd. (Of course not absurd for Disney if there's really an appetite for all this stuff.)

At least "the Death Star plans" have some context, unlike most maguffins in such flicks.

Classic case of over-saturation. I'm already sick of it all and have given up on most of these shows and movies.

Selfie was canceled after only a seven episodes and cost a heck of a lot less than Agents Of Shield to produce, yet the ratings are very close in comparison. Now look at the current ratings for AOS which are terrible for a major network series.

Selfie (cancelled) 3.78
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD 4.54 (Current ratings)

I am just sick of all the remakes period. Sure some of them can be entertaining but it seems all we hear about it is remakes and sequels.

Yeah, but we don't know that all of that is happening yet; we haven't gotten word on whether Agent Carter will come back, and I also haven't heard anything about the "or 2" spinoff in your "1 or 2 spinoffs on ABC" (though I have heard that Daredevil has been renewed for a second season on Netflix, in addition to having the first seasons of the other Marvel Netflix shows).

Those don't look all that close to me, honestly. Those numbers of yours have Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. a good 20% higher there than Selfie.

Moreover, it's not just about the absolute number; how well it does in its day on its time slot is a factor. Look at how well it does in its time slot against shows on the other networks at the same time - if it were coming in last, that'd be one thing, but it's not. It's performing respectably against its competitors in the same time slot.

haven't heard anything about the "or 2" spinoff in your "1 or 2 spinoffs on ABC"

There's talk of both the Bobbi/Hunter spinoff and a John Ridley-helmed Marvel Superhero show.

I'm not but the rumor sites are to the very limited extent that I've bothered with them.

Yes, I just now saw that one is claiming it'll be the clamored-for Ms. Marvel series, and be announced alongside the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff and renewals for both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. That'd be great, though I think it might be a little much to hope for.

i saw on Facebook the other day some colorized version of man of steel which was quite cool. the movie as you know had very dark tints throughout it so someone took scenes and made them brighter, really looked cool. I'm sure that won't happen with this new one and it will be much darker looking in colors and tints etc. was is every movie now a days so darn dark dark dark.

Not everything has to be a feel good movie. The horror films I like certainly aren't. I enjoy the original quite a lot so I'll stick with that one.

^ I'm with Ford on this one. An extreme example of Hollywood recycling in pursuit of the almighty dollar.

A woman raped by a ghost. In what universe is this a story that needs to be told twice?
