It would sell like hotcakes. It would be great to get a bunch of his vintage scores under one label. And it would provide another chance to bring some OOP scores back.
I need to hunt down a few like Christine and Escape From Ny, but I fear that when I do, a big lavish box set will come along.
I think Varese would've been the ones to do it, since they put out most of his scores originally. Dunno how that would work now with the subsequent expansions on different labels.
Not saying this is impossible, but highly unlikely given the licensing rights are scattered and what would you put on it? Everything? Or just his 80s scores? It would make for a great set if they could expand even further on the scores, but most of them have already been expanded and released complete.
They will keep reissuing these scores, perhaps less on CD and more on vinyl given the cult status. I personally hope Morricone's The Thing gets a reissue to round off my Carpenter wishlist.
