Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall et al....yeah, yeah...now that that's out of the way, which songs sound like Bond songs but obviously aren't? Not counting songs from spoofs, parodies, and other secret agent franchises.

Couldn't find a topic like this (Thor?) so here's this one. smile

The first such song submitted for your approval (and something I mentioned in the Duran Duran John Barry Tribute thread):

Goodbye is Forever- by Arcadia

The 1985 Duran Duran offshoot group's most Bondian-sounding song. Even the title is something that might have been a James Bond film.

Good idea for a thread! May I suggest:

Salt Peter, by the early 2000's group Skindive. Totally sounds like a Bond song

You mean songs written for movies or songs in general, 'cause this one came right to mind:

Edit: The old video was taken down. One can only imagine what Bernstein would've done for a Bond movie, but this song (with Don Black lyrics, yet!) is a neat bit of speculation.

Maybe I'm the only one who feel this way, but I've always felt that John Williams' theme song for STORIA DI UNA DONNA sounds like it could have been a Bond song, as perfomed by Ornella Vanoni. Something about the dramatic intervals leaps, the major-minor changes etc.

How is "Surrender" *not* a Bond song? It's on the soundtrack for pete's sake!

I was half joking since it wasn't the main Bond song for the film. Sheryl Crow's far inferior (IMO) "Tomorrow Never Dies" was.

Anyone have a link to directions on how to embed a video? I'm a dummy it seems.

I allways felt that Summerwine / Lee Hazlewood; Nancy Sinatra had a James Bond vibe about it. This doesn't go for the lyrics but for the melody. Some of the chord progressions remind me of the James Bond theme.

The winning song from 2014's Eurovision Song Contest, 'Rise Like A Phoenix' performed by Conchita Wurst sounds Bond-like to me (seriously!)...

<--- a-ha did record a Bond song of course, however a subsequent song from 1988 'The Blood That Moves The Body' also fits the bill...

'This Must Be The Place I've Waited Years To Leave' (originally written in 1986) has been rumoured to be a song Pet Shop Boys submitted for Bond, which was rejected...

That's just what I was going to say! That's what I thought the first time I heard it.
