Dear fellow detectives,

I know this has been mentioned and contributed to in another thread, but i think it's worthwile for it to have its own.

I'm still trying to have all the source radio cues from Carpenter's "The Fog" identified - and thanks to several members of this board - and a bit of detective work - about half of them are identified, but i'm still on the lookout for the rest. I also know that some people here would also be interested in these. Most of the cues are from the Bruton Music library. Maybe at a later time, i'll try to upload the snippets from the iso score to help with identification.

In film order, here goes:

1. "Take It Steady" - David Lindup
2. "Reach Out" - Steve Gray
3. "Lap One" - David Lindup
4. "Playboy Club" - Robert Cornford -> Robert Cornford "Cool Beat" LP, Studio G, 1974
5. "Midnight Serenade" - David Lindup
6. unknown - big band jazz piece
7. "Wonder Groove" - Steve Gray
8. unknown - piano solo bar background piece
9. unknown - classical piece VERY SIMILAR to Vivaldi's flute concerto in F major RV 433
(also featured in "Halloween III")

10. unknown - jazz piece with guitar solo
11. unknown - ragtime/jazz piece
12. unknown - piano intro medium tempo jazz piece
13. "Moonlight Magic" - Alan Moorhouse

Wouldn't it be great to finally have about an hour's worth of "Stevie Wayne's KAB Radio Antonio Bay Centennial Hour" to play one particularily damp fall evening? smile

Any help is of course greatly appreciated!

Very best,
Burnie

Nice work Burnie! Ah, yes Bruton library - some really terrific music in there - I was pursuing KPM library stuff for some of my unknown horror scoring, but found I was barking up the wrong tree - Bruton is where it's at, 70's & 80's filmmakers used that library often.

Thanks Sean - but fortunately YouTube and D-Udo were a great help.

Still missing those 7 pieces though - paging Prime Evil, paging Prime Evil smile smile

Only a matter of time - I really want that Vivaldi-esque piece myself!
P.E., the other Sean, great resource, I hope he chimes in. You guys certainly have more
patience and resource than when I tried this game a few years ago - going through library
music blogs where people posted complete Lp's of this stuff, going through track after endless track
searching for the "goods".

I would EASILY buy a release with this FOG music. Always enjoyed all those radio cues. Are these available anywhere at all?

Another Fog fan waving wads of cash here. Who do we need to talk to to get the Stevie Wayne radio hour album in motion? I'm sure a Kickstarter would fund this thing in no time.

A few of these tracks were available on blogs, some time back. Not sure if they still exist.

If someone ever did a compilation, similar to the Unreleased Tracks from Dawn of the Dead, I'd buy it.

Well, the old LaserDisc had an isolated music track containing both the score and the library tracks - unfortunately only in mono but very cool to have.

Yup, got the LD - but the source tracks were (of course) not playing in their entirety - just as they were featured in the movie. I have the full versions of the tracks identified above (they're quite easily found).

But it's hard tracking down the rest - licensing them for release would be another story, but we'd have to find the rest out first smile

Best,
Burnie

Sometiems I'll load unidentified music to my youtube channel and let it sit there until I recieve a third-party copyright notice. Then I'm able to identify it.

Instead of going threw hours of library music, load some of these LaserDisc isolated cues up and wait until a third-party copyright is triggered. It may takes days, it may take a year or so.

Here are a few other tracks I found on a blog a few months ago:

Vivaldi Vivace - Giancarlo Gazzani
Playboy Club - Robert Cornford
Jazz at the Maltings - Robert Cornford
Precinct 86 - Robert Cornford
Blues and the Abstract Tooth - Steve Gray
Joy Ride - Harry Gold
Errol's Choice - Alan Hawkshaw

It also had the other tracks already listed above, so I assume these are correct, but I've done no research on my own. I don't even recall the name of the blog. All I did was a basic search, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Erm... you know what, Alex? I'm currently at work and can't search for these - but if these indeed prove true (which i think they might) - you're THE MAN!!!

I'll go through these tomorrow and will let you all know - wouldn't that be something? smile wink

BestEST,

If we could put together our own Stevie Wayne playlist via iTunes that would be amazing!

I shall, Peter, i shall! I just want to confirm these first and am currently having a VERY HARD time finding any of these anywhere. The original vinyls are around for semi-reasonable prices, but i need to listen to them first. As soon as i have some more time on my hands i WILL find them somewhere and include them in the original post together with the info on which library albums they were originally "released". Basically, a source info list for any label that would want to do this (dream on, Burnie...) :-)

Best,
Burnie

I always thought these cues were made by Carpenter and his band, but these were not by them, right? Someone please release this!

Try that app 'Shazam'- it samples and identifies songs. Should at least reduce the remaining tracks for you.
My husband uses it on TV shows all the time.
