My life was recently touched by the kindness of an FSM member. The depth of gratitude I feel cannot be put into words.
This is certainly not the first time I have experienced such goodness on this board. This particular act caught me off guard and will never be forgotten. In all honesty, each kind word and act I have experienced here will not forgotten.

I have wanted to express this for some time now. There are so many people with whom I have interacted on this board that have had a wonderful impact on my life. I was raised on the philosophy that the small acts of kindness that we experience or do for others are just as impactful as the large ones and that kind words are as essential to your life as a material good.

There are times that we disagree with one another, use words to dig deeper than necessary or experience unpleasant exchanges outside the board. For me, these times are far outshone by the kind words, kind acts and positive exchanges I have experienced. To all of you on this board and beyond who have been a part of this wonderful experience, thank you. You have a lot to be proud of.

I'm not going to ask what this act was (although I'm curious), but it's nice to read such comments once in a while. This board doesn't exactly have the reputation of being a nice place.

Sometimes, people can surprise, and despite a ton of negativity recently (I'm guilty too of this) , it's nice to read a Positive reality check here sometimes ;-) Despite our gripes we still are a close knit community & shouldn't lose sight of that! Back to my '86 "retroganza" day now....taking the family to a local screening of Big Trouble in Little China & revisiting scores of that year.. dang, there are some great ones from this year (hush up you golden agers, '56 & '66 were surely great too!).

Agreed, Sir Thor.

She is a dear lady ( even though we've never communicated outside of this board) and it is pleasing to hear her heart was touched.

Hey, what's all this mushy stuff?

Don't you all know where you are?

The FSM board gazes out at the internet world with the glinting squint of the man with no name, not with the jiggling saucer eyes of an adorable kitten.

This is an OUTRAGE!!!

umm, sorry, I watched A Fistful of Dollars last night for the first time in years, can't shake that terrifying Eastwood stare.

Carry on being sweet. smile

Really? I can only think of one person who's always deliberately nasty (his initials are F.T., to avoid any misunderstanding) as opposed to someone simply losing his cool or maybe posting while drunk. I never come here expecting to be insulted or abused, and usually...I'm not! Isn't that nice. smile

All of the responses are wonderful. MikeP, thank you for the kind words. Oh, Sean and Sean, I too can wade in the puddle of negativity and sarcasm but it's mostly positive. I love the comment about the wide eyes of a kitten. This actually brought back a good memory.

When I was younger, I collected a few of the prints by the artist Gig. I believe the kittens' names were Ambrosia and Tiger Lily. We hung them in the kids' rooms when they were little. We no longer have them but this reference gave me such a chuckle. I did have a soft spot for those big-eyed kittens. smile

This doesn't have anything to do with the complete sessions from MATINEE, does it?

All in all the board is good place, there are a few people that go off track, mostly those have been banned. I think most people here are good at heart.

Yes, for a forum that has a "tough" reputation, I have also been the recipient of kind words and deeds here over the years. When my father died in 2009, many here wished me the best and believe me, it made a big difference in helping me to get through it.

NO! NO!
it sound like a song is about to burst out thin air.

."Dear Heart"

Dear heart wish you were here to warm this night
My dear heart, seems like a year since you've been out of my sight
A single room, a table for one
It's a lonesome town all right
But soon I'll kiss you hello at our front door
And dear heart I want you to know
I'll leave your arms never more

(A single room, a table for one)
It's a lonesome town all right
But soon I'll kiss you hello at our front door
And dear heart I want you to know
I'll leave your arms never more

ok
that's it from me.

I for one am more mesmerized by the gaze of Ambrosia than the glare of Mola Ram.

Joan, MikeP, Da Asgardian and others of their titled long-time perceptive patronage of what we usually regard as FSM Dis-Assembled know whereof they speak, edw.

There are moments when true compassionate humanity (instead of the nitwit nonsense of arrested adolescence) DOES royally rear its honorable head around these too-often picayune parts.

Your auspicious example is only the latest evidence that more than a few of us can thankfully relate to.

A coupla years ago someone we were then quite close to almost died and the out-pouring of substantial support, well-wishes, and blessed prayers (including collective not false euphoria from those who actually deigned to express themselves publically when the tide healthily turned) remains a hallmark of which there aren't overly many we can subscribe to during our almost decade-long tenure here.

Chic cynicism is far too easy.

HOPE truly takes talent.

May you and yours continue to be blessed with Health, Harmony and Happiness ...

These were all wonderful comments on this. Sean Nethery, you are very funny and thank you for the picture of Ambrosia. That picture just tugs at my heart - no pun or whatever intended. Josh, the picture of the guy with heart just warmed mine. The first time I saw that scene in Indiana Jones Temple of Doom (I'm pretty sure that's the movie) I almost lost my lunch. I can handle it now after raising 2 kids. It strengthens your stomach.

Finally, Dogbelle, that song "Dear Heart" brought back a flood of memories. When the movie came out in the 60s, my mom fell in love with the song and played it by ear on the piano and organ ALL the time. We listened to Andy Williams sing it ALL the time. I knew and still know the words by heart. That was such a great time for love songs.

There is a lot of heart on this board!

That song immediately came to my mind, too, but I'm partial to the Jack Jones version m'self. smile
