Serious question: How involved, if at all, is George Lucas in Star Wars VII? I saw that photo of J.J. Abrams surrounded by Kennedy, Kasdan, and Williams and wondered why they (two of the three) were there? Was it just a photo op? Why are Lucas' cronies there? Because they're working on the movie. Kennedy, who hasn't previously worked on Star Wars but did work with Lucas on all four of the Indiana Jones movies, is the president of Lucasfilm and the producer of Star Wars - Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Kasdan co-scripted it, as he did Star Wars - Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars - Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (in addition to scripting Raiders of the Lost Ark), and Wiiliams is scoring it, as he did all six previous episodes (and, of course, all four Indy movies). Why wouldn't they be there? When he first sold Lucasfilm to Disney, Lucas provided a treatment for the new movie's story, but so far it appears little or none of it is being used, and he doesn't seem to be working on it in any other capacity.
