I guess this answers the question about the new Intrada release for next week:

That means that CF has been ripping people off on shipping for a while now.

25 USD shipping for a single CD + no combined shipping.
(at least they haven't realized yet it is supposed to be 2CD set, otherwise it would be 50!)

And if you mention it on their FB page, they ban you immediately and delete everything.
What a perfect way to run a business.
Obviously, I am not wasting my money on them.

Were you able to send them a private note to check on the shipping price? I know when I used to order stuff from Dark Delicacies when I lived in Indiana they had a higher than normal shipping, but once they charged your card when they actually SHIPPED your order, it was always the normal price for shipping and never crazy. Maybe Creature Features is that way too? Send them a note, they are super nice and friendly I'm sure they'll respond smile

Probably no point in trying it... since last time I pointed to a glitch that didn't allow anyone outside US to order from them, it took them a few weeks to respond.

Well, no biggie... I'll just have to live without it...

First off - SPECTACULAR news about this being the next Intrada title!

And the signing! Oh man! I would LOVE LOVE to attend this, buy the CD, meet Shire and have him sign it. It'd be wonderful. I envy those who can make this.

A great, great score. Very exciting.

Also, it's only May and this is the fourth Shire premiere of the year! Amazing!

I couldn`t be more excited. Return to Oz always has been one of my all time favorite scores. I had no idea that the old Bay Cities CD mix ommitted several instruments. To have the music properly mixed is probably more important to me than the additional music because I always thought that the old soundtrack was a great listening experience. Although I don`t mind finally having the complete score.

The old Bay Cities "mix" is the one that appeared on the original Sonic Atmospheres LP. Omitted several instruments? Says who? Mr. Shire was directly involved in that LP release and I doubt he would have allowed it if things were missing. And exactly how, with the London Symphony and all, could things be missing? I'm baffled by this and will await some clarity.

EDIT: Oh, I just read the other thread. If "sweeteners" were left off, then they were left off with Mr. Shire's approval and/or desires. He's not one to shut up about these things. So, forgive me if I don't take that very seriously. They may have done the sweeteners as a precaution for the film mix, but, you know, the timpani, harp and triangle are instruments that would be playing with the rest of the symphony orchestra.

On a recent trip to L.A. I stopped by Creature Features and many of the other collectible/vintage shops on Magnolia Blvd in Burbank. Creature Features has such an amazing collection of books, music, and other items from so many aspects of fandom. The Ralph McQuarrie art exhibition was really sweet... I was sorely tempted by a $40 print of McQuarrie's Ark of the Covenant illustration from the Bible used in Raiders (something I didn't know he did for the film). Instead, I went with the huge "Return to Tomorrow" book about the making of Star Trek The Motion Picture. Made for some fascinating reading on the plane back home. I wished I lived near L.A. so I could make regular visits to the shop!

One of my 'desert island' scores. I won't be able to order it fast enough once it's up at Intrada.

Where in my post do you see anything criticizing your being excited about this release? I'm excited to hear the extra music, whatever it might be. You made a statement based on a hyperbolic press release about what you called missing instruments. There are no missing instruments. The "missing instruments" of your post turns out to be "sweeteners" which were obviously left off the original LP release because Mr. Shire and his engineer didn't think they were necessary for an album mix. What they do sometimes for FILM mix purposes is record a percussion overdub or harp overdub so you can have that clarity in the FILM mix. Those instruments are all there in the original mix, done with Mr. Shire's participation. I thought Mr. Shire and his engineer's work on the original album was superb-sounding straight down the line. I mean, I don't know, call me crazy but Eric Tomlinson is as good as it gets - he's the guy, you know, who did the original recording and mix. So, when you make a comment like "properly mixed" I just kind of scratch my elderly head.
