THANK YOU!

We started with Charles Bernstein's "April Fools Day" and ended with Frank Skinner's "Magnificent Obsession" and in between we saw many classic albums come out. Thank you all for taking this musical journey with us and for coming along for the ride. More good things are coming, stay tuned!

Introducing...

Varèse Sarabande has delved deep into our vinyl soundtrack vaults to locate fan favorites and hard-to-find gems that have never been released on CD to date! The LP to CD subscription series will feature one CD soundtrack per month culled from Varèse Sarabande’s archives and available only to subscribers. Pre-order now and receive a retro-styled collector’s carrying case to house the entire LP to CD series. The only way to get the limited edition case is during this pre-order period through June 14th!

Each album in the LP to CD series is chosen for its quality and archival value, with a new title being delivered each month for 12 months. The individual compact discs are authentically packaged in mini-LP replica jackets. Membership in the LP to CD subscription has a $250 annual value, and is available for the low cost of only $10 a month (plus shipping) and will be billed monthly.

The limited edition box, with its inspired design as a mini vinyl record carrying case, will be delivered with your first release and ready to be filled with each successive album during the 12 month run. The first title in the LP to CD series will be APRIL FOOL'S DAY, a long in demand album from composer Charles Bernstein.

The limited edition case is a thank you from Varese Sarabande for committing to the LP to CD series for the entire year. There are no cancellations or refunds.

Um,
So how do the total costs tally here?
$10 per month
$13 per CD + shipping costs

How does this all work?
I like the CD reissues but I want to know exactly how much money I'll be paying per CD release, etc.

I'm not sure I like this. Seeing that these are only vintage Varese LP (no Decca, MCA etc.), there's perhaps ONE title out of the twelve that I would like. I will miss out of that because I won't pay for the others. I sure hope that all the titles will be available via the lossless download route...

It is $10.00 per month plus shipping that's it.

These are titles that were released on LP back in the day from Varèse, but NEVER on CD until now. For those that know our back LP catalogue we hope they enjoy these goodies!

Well, I signed up and it's already screwed up. The order page wouldn't accept the promo code, and when I placed the order, the billing address somehow switched to the shipping address, which means the credit card probably won't clear. And there is no customer service email address listed on the confirmation email. I just want to cancel now, but I can't tell how. This seems to be a separate account from my normal VS account.

Not for me. I won't pay for titles I don't want.

It is $10.00 per month plus shipping that's it.

That is a nice deal and I like the first title.

Question, will the shipping be cheaper (international) given these are basically single sized covers? And when you get the shipment with the box, will that up the shipping price as well?

I don't understand some things:
1) Membership in the LP to CD subscription has a $250 annual value.
But 12 months x $10 will be $120, or I don't understand this statement at all? What does it mean? ( smile )
2) Is it possible to make list for next, let's say 5-6 titles? I think you'll get more people involved in this if they will know little more. As Stefan said, it's not interesting to make $120 (+shipping!) Subscription while you need only one or two title.

I think this deal will be okay.

$10 per month
1 CD per month

Must pay shipping... $4 per release

As long as each title is a vintage Varèse vaulted soundtrack (not a compilation) I'll be happy.

Kinda reminds me of the good ol' FSM Charter Club

If you bought every CD being offered in this at a regular type price ($19 or so) the price would be $250. Basically they are offering this to the mailing list at a reduced price per CD.

That is all that ever means. It's a very common way to sell a product. No different than paying upfront for a website subscription (pay for 12 months now and save xxx).

Yes, but I didn't quite anticipate these conditions. I think we do need to know what the titles are here. Have they been selected?

I do appreciate the effort. smile

Ok, I understand...
So it will be $20 for outside US...
Not bad deal.
But once again - it will be fantastic to know some further titles as well.

Well, I still find $20 steep given they are charging the same shipping price they are for regular CDs (if the shopping cart is correct). These are simple cardboard sleeve releases with no case or booklet, so that means they weigh less and should be cheaper to ship. And the uncertainty of what titles will be included makes it less enticing. Will have to give it some more thought.

To make a comparison, I paid 45 $ with shipping for a Goblin boxset with 6 similar LP to CD reissues in similar cover sleeve packaging (granted one shipping). Here I would have to pay 120 $ for the same amount of reissues and another 120 $ for the remaining...

Nope, This is a dumb idea. Won't buy Music I don't want or know what the releases are. Complete unknown GRAB Bag deal with a fancy box. No. won't be purchasing. give me a complete list of title for the remaining year and I will reconsider if there is enough of what I want.

this looks very cool and the first title, yesssssss. Been wanting that for yrs. Me=happy

A $10 CD that's a limited edition, not a bad deal considering we pay $19.95 for most and even some of vareses older lp to cd titles like Pirahna and Making The Grade etc. were like $15 or more. This ain't a bad deal, plus you get a free box. how dare you Varese give us cool stuff, how DARE you smile

Can't wait. i hope the sleeves are identical to that old cool varese look and look like the back of all those old lp's.

...there's perhaps ONE title out of the twelve that I would like.

If you're lucky there might be two. I'm hoping that some strike gold and end up with three.

I assume I'm reading this right – that a year-long subscription will entitle us to a dozen undisclosed CDs by undisclosed composers, and that if seven or eight of the titles aren't liked or wanted by the subscriber, it's his or her tough luck? And that if we want to buy just the CDs that appeal to us, that's tough luck too? I already know that the first one is of absolutely no interest to me personally, but I am obliged to buy it if I want to gamble on some of the others being desirable.

This is good news for eBay speculators who can subscribe just to put the individual releases on eBay at inflated prices for those who don't want to commit to a dozen unknown CDs but might want just a couple of titles.

First impressions suggest the first title, April Fool's Day, could hardly be more apt.
