Banjo the Woodpile Cat- Wish someone would release this! Great jazzy score with catchy songs including a few lovely ones by Sally Stevens.

Aristocats maybe?!

Best cat theme? Can i be the first to crack a rather tired but predictable Pussy Galore gag or some such?

Are you talking strictly kitty cats, or other "cats"?

In retrospect I didn't specify so I guess its open to interpretation. So lets here it for Ghost and the Darkness!

I'd like to make special mention of the obscure and unreleased score by Buddy Baker to a Disney film "Run, Cougar, Run".

I'd say The Cat from Outer Space just to suggest something obscure, but I have no memory of this score. I just really liked the movie as a kid...

I'd say that Mancini is the best "cat composer," with THE PINK PANTHER and "Something for Cats" from BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S.

There's an even more obscure cat film that Schifrin scored, titled 'Eye of the Cat.' It's an excellent horror score of an experimental nature that should be presented on album.

Eye of the Cat • Universal • music by Lalo Schifrin
It's an avant garde masterpiece.
The film is written by Joseph Stefano, author of Psycho.

I always liked Schifrin's theme, scores for "T.H.E. CAT."

Seriously, "Charlie, The Lonesome Cougar" and (a second vote for) Barry's "Born Free." Would be curious to hear Sol Kaplan's take on 'cat music' for "Living Free" (any takers? Intrada? Kritzerland?) Lawrence Ashmore was the orchestrator, which tells me the score was recorded in London.

Honorable cat music mention: 'Catspaw" (ST:TOS) - Gerald Fried

I like Robert Folk's SAVAGE HARVEST score from 1981 - the film credits state it was recorded at "EMI, London" (Abbey Road?). ... I wonder if tapes survive. The film itself has fallen into obscurity and is unlikely to receive a DVD or HD release due to other music rights issues - the characters sing a couple of Beatles songs around a piano to take their minds off the marauding lions outside.

What about the jazzy music in the first Garfield Cartoon from 1982: Here Comes Garfield!
