Pirate--Man in his 40's to late 50's. He's "an infamous pirate who has terrorized seas all around the world. Cunning, ruthless, with a touch of madness." He's a dangerous-looking man. A very good part this season. 2. Father--Aged 50's to 60's, he's one of the greatest soldiers in Westeros - a humorless martinet, severe and intimidating. He demands martial discipline in the field and in his home. It's described as "a very good part" for next year and that he's "centrally involved" in a protagonist's storyline. 3. Mother--In her 50's. She's a sweet, plump, and adoring mother, and has a soft spot for one of her children who benefits from her decency. 4. Sister--In her early 20s. She's a kind, friendly and unpretentious woman. 5. Brother--In his early to mid-20's . Athletic, a good hunter, an excellent swordsman, manly, not particularly bright but the favourite child of the father. 6. Priest--In his 40's or 50's. A large boy--With an actor who is 10-12 but playing 7 or 8. He's described as "a clever boy" who seems too large for his age. He's big and tall but not fat. "Characterful squat features" are a plus for this part. it's specified that this is a one-time appearance. 11. 12 year old boy--With brown hair and blue eyes. He needs to use a Northern accent. He has scenes where he has to spar with a wooden sword. The length of the role isn't specified. 12. 7 year old boy--With dark brown hair, a narrow face and green eyes. He also has a Northern accent. He also spars with the wooden sword, so it's safe to assume it's the same scene. This role is similarly open-ended, the description only stating that the character is being 'introduced.' TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2---Brittany Ishibashi has joined the cast as Karai, Shredder's daughter. TOM RIPLEY---tv series underway based on the novel series about serial killer Tom Ripley. Thank you, Cindy. That's just what I was thinking about his pithy but mystifying post. As to story/writing history -- Not that you can trust everything you read in Wikipedia, but, for what it's worth: Seven Waves Away From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (Redirected from Abandon Ship!) Seven Waves Away Poster of the movie Seven Waves Away.jpg US theatrical release poster Directed by Richard Sale Produced by John R. Sloan Tyrone Power (uncredited) Based on Seven Waves Away 1938 short story by Richard Sale Starring Tyrone Power Mai Zetterling Lloyd Nolan Stephen Boyd Music by Arthur Bliss Cinematography Wilkie Cooper Edited by Raymond Poulton Production company Copa Productions Distributed by Columbia Pictures Release dates April 17, 1957 (US) Running time 97 min. Country United Kingdom Language English Seven Waves Away (alternate U.S. titles: Abandon Ship! and Seven Days From Now) is a 1957 British drama film starring Tyrone Power, Mai Zetterling, Lloyd Nolan, and Stephen Boyd. When his ship goes down, an officer has to make an agonizing decision on his overcrowded lifeboat. Richard Sale adapted the film from his 1938 short story of the same name, originally published in Scribner's Magazine. The plot has similarities to the real-life sinking of the American ship William Brown in 1841. The William Brown hit an iceberg 250 miles off Newfoundland and lost 31 of its 65 passengers. Two boats with 17 crewmen and the remaining passengers escaped the wreck, but more than a dozen passengers were sacrificed from the crowded longboat.[1] Though there is no direct acknowledgment by the filmmakers, the film ends with a voice-over stating, "The story which you have just seen is a true one. In real life, Captain [sic] Alexander Holmes was brought to trial on a charge of murder. He was convicted and given the minimum sentence of six months because of the unusual circumstances surrounding the incident."

Thor, Hitchcock's LIFEBOAT was the very definition of enclosed-space-personal-tensions-multiple-characters drama. Hitchcock set himself that challenge -- as he would, with equally brilliant success later on with REAR WINDOW. Oh, Thor, I'm so sorry you've never seen it. I first saw it on TV as a kid, and I've seen it a million times since then. It's one of those movies which if you come into the middle of it you have to keep watching to the end. Last time I saw it, happily, was projected on the big Academy movie screen. Hope you finally get the chance to see it soon.
