I feel pretty much the opposite; film looks dumb (even by Sandler standards), but I'm sure Jackman can conjure some WRECK-IT RALPH-style magic (no question this is how he got the job).
I thought for sure that Varese would be sitting the summer out.
i have to say i love the arcaders '82 bonus track. i really wish the rest of the score was the "bonus" and the entire thing had been done in this style. it's 80s-tastic and 90 seconds is no where near enough of that. not even close. love that track!

But would that style have suited the rest of the movie?

probably couldn't hurt it given the terrible reviews across the board. oh if only jackman had just gone rogue!

So, if Jackman does a Williams-esque orchestral score, people still complains? But if he would have gone full Wreck It Ralph and Big Hero 6, people would have complained about Jackman sticking to that sound.

You consider THIS simpleminded, kindergarden version of a symphonic score "Williams-esque"????! You're kidding, right!?
No, really -- what happened to Teddy Castellucci? His last score was in 2010 and even then he wasn't exactly flush with work.
Yeah! This would have been a perfect project for him... and he used to score pretty much anything Sandler touched in his heyday. Then Rupert Gregson-Williams took over for whatever reason and he could have also provided much more enjoyable score than super-overrated Jackman...

yes my post is clearly full of vitriol and complaint. all in service of how much i love that short final track that seems like it would probably be a great fit for a movie about 80s video games. stop trying to instigate something here...sheesh.
