La-La Land Records and 20th Century Fox present a second volume of acclaimed composer Mark Snow’s (THE X-FILES, BLUE BLOODS, THE LONE GUNMEN) original score to the groundbreaking dramatic thriller television series MILLENNIUM, starring Lance Henriksen, Megan Gallagher and Terry O’Quinn, and created by Chris Carter (THE X-FILES). Haunting, soulful, terrifying and beautiful, Mr. Snow’s complex musical tapestry for this landmark show is an immersive experience to be treasured. This 2-CD presentation is a further exploration into the series’ most impressive musical moments – the perfect compliment to the first volume of the show’s music (which has just been re-issued). Produced by Mark Snow, Nick Redman and Mike Joffe, and mastered by James Nelson, this new compilation of original tracks is limited to 2000 units and features exclusive, in-depth liner notes from writer Randall D. I'm not very familiar with the show - saw it a few times, made a point of seeing the Charles Nelson Reilly x-files follow up, but was disappointed when {SPOILER - NEVER MIND}.

Can some knowledgeable millennial contrast this music with X-Files? I'm listening to the samples, but I'm curious how fans see this work compared to the big X.

Can some knowledgeable millennial contrast this music with X-Files? I'm listening to the samples, but I'm curious how fans see this work compared to the big X.

Millennium is more melodic - vaguely Celtic, vaguely cello concerto, more organic - than X-Files, which tends to be more percussive and synth (not in a bad way). Xfiles has a wealth of different musical ideas because of how the show changed gears most every episode, while Millennium had a constant feeling of "dour" or "sadness".

Thanks, LeHah, that's kind of what I was thinking as I listened to the clips. Appreciate it!

Won't be able to grab these releases today, but boy oh boy am I definitely buying them. I will echo the thought that Millennium Volume 2 was but a dream until I saw the announcement. While I haven't heard seen any of the shows that Snow has scored, his Millennium album is one of my favorites from LLL. Thanks to MV and all the monkeys for helping get the music out there.

I can't explain either how great of a release this is! Millennium touched my soul in a way X-Files did not, and believe me, I *cherished* both shows. Like a paraphrasing of Neitzsche's famous quote, if you look into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you, and that's the feeling I had from Millennium, and from its music, first and foremost. The show, and more specifically, the music, captured my soul and didn't let go, and up until now, the Millennium Volume I release was the only respite I had from becoming a dreary-eyed, hapless victim of Snow's melodies therein. The show may cover macabre, intimidating, and gruesome topics, but the music is what kept me hooked and lured my soul to welcoming such a wonderful musical score. Let the demons in, and with them, Millennium Volume II!!!

Is the first season version of the main title on this release?

The theme as used in season one is used the same way in the other 2 seasons (according to the fine notes.) So, yes.

I haven't looked at what the notes say but if that's the case they are incorrect. Seasons 2 and 3 had a slightly reworked theme, adding a synth choir type sound to it.

To answer the other poster's question, the theme presented on Vol 2 is the same as Vol 1 - the Seasons 2 and 3 version. To add to that, on my copy the theme seems to have about a half second chopped off the beginning compared to by Vol 1 version.

I'm not sure what you mean by the Season One title since it had several iterations over the course of the first year.
