From my point of view, i'm glad WB just f***ed things up because they made us see the return of the stubborn Mr.Powell. So i think their idiocracies worth the plus point right now.

But, well, i think Everest is much of a straightforward-epic-survival score that doesn't rely on variety of creative process as much as Pan and Hollywood obligate to. So i think mr. Dario will succeed here.

I look forward to seeing this movie. I was at Base Camp three months after the events portrayed ( 1996 ) and there were a lot of raw feelings amongst locals and Sherpa's.

Jon Krakauer's book on the events is excellent unlike the TV movie bearing the books title 'Into Thin Air'. Though I seriously recommend Lee Holdridge's fantastic score.

Oh I hope so. Dario is a great composer and I'm looking forward to hearing his score.

Amazing score indeed! I'd love to hear something like it in this, unlikely though that is...

Is this from the score? Sounds like it to me.

Around 57 seconds in.

This one must be at least, but you can barely hear it -

Judging from that second clip, sounds like typical place-filling, hand-wringing strings bullshit (see most any Marvel score, the "Obliviate" cue from Desplat's Potter, every other score from the past 10 years), but the music in that section of the BTS was all right.

Saw the movie a couple of days ago and it's amazing.
The score is a quite good, sounds a lot like Hirschfelder's SANCTUM.

I found a 30 second sample from the score album.

This is 30 seconds from the last track "Epilogue".

Shouldn't be too long now before we get samples from all tracks.

Weird. It does not sound like the score I've heard in the film.

Hmm... I didn't know Elfman scored that (or more like just reused his Edward Scissorhands).

I found it here, only the last track is available to sample.

At the end of the movie, you find out that all of the climbers were miniature figurines in Kim's bedroom, and all of the storms and avalanches in the movie are but mere flakes coming off of poor Edward's ice sculptures. Pretty cool twist, but these damned reboots, man...

Saw this film last night.
Solid, well-made adventure film.
Good characters, great photography/FX, tense and exciting.
I know it really happened an' all, but it's still hard to feel complete sympathy for people who PUT THEMSELVES IN HARM'S WAY for some crazy self-serving ideal, which risks other people too.
I think Josh Brolin has forgot he's NOT Tommy Lee Jones anymore!
If I hadn't known the score was by Marianelli, I would have guessed someone like Ramin Djawadi or Brian Tyler. The usual percussion/drum beats, some emo' strings and piano, plus a bit of wailing.
As I was watching it, hearing things like The Hilary Step and Doug at Summit being mentioned made me remember Lee Holdridge's astounding score for the cable/TV film done years back about the same real-life incident.
To imagine this film (with it's fantastic production values) capped with the Holdridge score - instead of the programme-by-numbers one we got - would have taken it to whole new heights (hoho).
Another sad reminder of what we've come to expect now from standard Hollywood fare.

I saw this movie in 3D this afternoon. Initially very exciting but ultimately sad.I'm not usually a great lover of 3D but there are some stunning shots in 'Everest'. I left the cinema relieved that I was in London on a pleasant Autumn day rather than in the snow ice and high altitude of the worlds highest mountain. You come away wondering how some of these tourist mountaineers are ever allowed to participate in such a dangerous endeavour. Definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

Dario Marianelli's score is, apart from a driving end title, generally quite laid back and ethereal in line with the beauty of the mountains and the nature of the story but is there supporting the film effectively. Will buy the CD because I like this kind of understated brooding score.
