The trailer was released today -

What do people think, what kind of HGW score do you think will we get?

Horrible news... Harry Gregson-Williams is such a mediocre composer...

Let's just hope that the genre alone is *not* an indication and that he won't dish out the kind of generic synth crap he did for Total Recall.

His last-second theme for Prometheus was the best thing about that score and movie, so hopefully it's in that vein.

Agreed. Not a fan of HGW, but he truly delivered on that simple, but effective theme.

The trailer looks absolutely stunning. Can't wait!

Harry Gregson-Williams did some of his best work for Ridley Scott and his late brother, Tony. I still find Kingdom of Heaven to be a triumph of a score: epic and exotic with sweeping themes. I do miss the chance that Scott would've kept working with Daniel Pemberton after his incredible score for The Counselor.

For The Martian, I'm cautiously hesitant about the film with Ridley's batting average being fairly low. Drew Goddard scripted this one and he's a good chap so hopefully the script is strong. Has anyone read the book?

Totally OT but Mars just disappeared for two weeks.

It does look great and promises an exciting film...fingers are crossed. Not a huge HGW fan but he'd done things I've enjoyed a few times. Cautiously optimistic for the score and really stoked for the film.

Well, he's been meeting with Scott right after his FMP concert...
and has been working on the movie since.

Im with you on HGW'S KINGDOM OF HEAVEN Such a great nuanced filled score. I wish LLL would issue this as a 3CD set!

KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is great -- one of the few HGWs I really like.

I did read the book. I am extremely curious on how they will shot it as the book is more like a diary.

Hell, yeah. Kingdom of Heaven's score was magnificent and Gregson-Williams short stint on Prometheus gave it its best theme. I'm really stoked that he is back scoring this film.

Regards the book, yeah, it wasn't particularly well-written, but it was a real page-turner with a great plot. All the time I was reading it I thought "this would be one hell of a movie" and that trailer looks great. Could be Apollo 13 times ten.

Let's hope there's not a monkey in it this time.

Looks like Ridley can`t quite decide what composer he would like to work with these days. Streitenfeld? Pemberton? Iglesias? HGW?

Does anyone know if he had a falling out with Zimmer after Matchstick Men in 2003?

HGW is very good at his best, and delivered some dynamite for Tony Scott.

I think its good that Ridley keeps changing things around regards composers, keeps things different. If he had Zimmer doing everything each film would sound the same.

Ohno! I'm about to get ripped apart for daring to even suggest such a thing...

I love Harry Gregson-Williams in symphonic mode (Sinbad, Shrek Forever After, Kingdom Of Heaven, Prince of Persia ect.) but really don't care for him much at all when in remote control gear. It is always wait & hear with me.

Yeah, I always asked that myself. Does anyone know anything about this? By the way, what a wonderful score!
