C-LITE: And will there be a physical release of that score? EG: Look out for the album, A Midsummer Night's Dream, around the release of the film in mid-June.
So....from what I can tell this is incidental music to the play?
Very interested, if so.
I think it's basically a 'filmed play'. He wrote it in 1984, so I'm not sure if there is any new music on top of what he wrote then.
It seems like everything's changed. Here's an excerpt from BWW interview:
Reporter: Right, almost 30 years ago. Besides having expanded the runtime of the show, what else has changed from that previous production?
Goldenthal: Everything has changed. There was a fragment of some melody that was in the original production but everything, 99% is absolutely new. That Elliot Goldenthal is dead and buried in a parking lot somewhere under three feet of asphalt [Laughs]. That Elliot Goldenthal doesn't exist anymore.

It is all new music. I saw the 2014 play and the 2015 filmed version of the play. I think the music from 1984 is probably completely lost as is his Titus stage music from the 1980s which I think was written for something like two keyboards and trumpet.

I think you meant to say 1990s. It was premiered first in NYC in 1994. There was a short footage from the play available somewhere online sometime ago. Very interesting. Some of the music (sort of mad carnival Felliniesque kind) actually reminded me of his wacky writing (particularly the Riddler stuff) from BATMAN FOREVER.
