After reading the bio I've seen a lot of films he was in, but I honestly don't recognize the actor. Died so young. RIP

Sad news. I thought his scene-stealing turn in The 'burbs would make him a star. It sure was a splendid, hilarious performance.

He was indeed terrific in that movie. Also liked him in Little Monsters, Scary Movie and (for all that I don't care for it) Blank Check. He will be missed.

He had a small role in Die Hard. He played the electric company employee standing in the manhole at the feet of FBI man Johnson. He was also in another John McTiernan film The Hunt for Red October. There he was in the helicopter with Alec Baldwin experiencing a severe case of turbulance.

When I first moved to L.A. in 1984, I'd drive into Hollywood regularly for Live Tapings of THICKE OF THE NIGHT a talk show hosted by (pre-Growing Pains) Alan Thicke. He featured 4 up and coming stand-up comedians on his show, which included new comers Richard Belzer, Gilbert Gottfried, a very young Arsenio Hall and Rick Ducommun. They would contribute skits and I believe Ducommun and Arsenio would trade off as Thicke's "Ed McMahon" sitting on the couch and help Allan with the guests. They also got time, compliments of Thicke to showcase some of their own stand up on the show. Ducommun came before the likes of Chris Farley but I always found a likeness to the two. I guess it was the comic "fat guy" thing.

Sad to hear this news.

Yes, THE BURBS was his first big jump into films and unfortunately his career never reached that of a Farley. He seemed like a sweet man.

Condolences to family, friends and colleagues.

Was he the one talking about puking up the snickers? Yeah, he was a really funny actor.

I was gutted to hear this. Loved him in The Burbs and anytime he popped up in films. I was mentioning it to colleagues here not thinking they would know who he was, but two of them grew up with him and his family in Prince Albert. One even has old recordings of prank calls he did with my colleagues brothers. They were shocked to hear he had passed. I felt awful having told them. Such sad news. They said he was always funny and a great bloke.

Rick was one of the best finds in Ed McMahon's Star Search way back when. He made a lasting hilarious impression.
