Never say never.

He does it I think for three reasons:

(a) He loves geometry and classical perspective,

(b) He likes the camera to be a storyteller who's 'in on' the story, a presenter, and often the camera is like a voyeur, a comedian, who leaves enough 'space' for the viewer to get the ironies and comedies ... like in 'Rope',

(c) He's got a mystical bent and likes that Jungian 'mandala towards the centre and omnipresence' thing.
