I have the 1998 Canadian DVD of GIANT, which supposedly is quite rare as it was pulled off the market very quickly due to some hassle over the bonus materials. It then took WB in the U.S. until around 2005 to release it here. I have both, and from the contents list it appears that everything on the Canadian DVD is also on the later U.S. 2-DVD set. I guess WB sorted out the legal details. However, does anybody know FOR SURE if there is anything on that Canadian DVD that is NOT on the U.S. set (even if it is just a shot or two within one of the special features)? If not, I really don't need to keep the Canadian DVD anymore.
The only interesting thing about the Canadian DVD is that the image is just slightly wider than the U.S. version. I may just throw it on ebay with that as a selling point.
Also, has any home video version ever been released with the intermission title intact? I saw a reissue in the theatre which had the intermission title (complete with Tiomkin's intermission card music), plus the music appeared on a Soundstage Recordings CD many years ago, but I've never seen it on any video release.
