Are there any additional details about the score, apart from the cover that was revealed a week or so ago? A tracklist perhaps?

Hmmmm. While clearly in the modern groove, if that first minute stuff is Beck's score, I kinda like what he's doing with it. It sounds like he's riffing on 90's/2000's Goldsmith to me...that could almost be Deep Rising 2!!!

The first minute or so recalls a retro, sort of Man from UNCLE (tv series) vibe, kind of like what Brian Tyler did with "Can You Dig It?" from the glory that was the Iron Man 3 score. The music here also sounds a bit playful. For those unfamiliar with the Ant-Man character, he's of the Spidey-Iron Man (RDJ's take, anyway) wisecracking school and I suppose Beck's music will be with that in mind(?)

Looking forward to the film. smile

Yeah this movie looks like fun. I like his Edge of Tomorrow score a lot.

I don't think I've ever even seen a film scored by Beck and that is something since the man has been such a prolific composer. In looking over his other projects, Beck has lots of experience scoring this kind of thing.

Jim, have you heard Tower Heist?
You'd like that. He's riffing on that big brassy 70's sound...kinda Pelham 123-like.
He's a pretty versatile composer...I generally like his stuff.

Oh and wait!!! You haven't seen FROZEN!!!??? smile

“Ant-Man may just be my favorite Marvel film since Jon Favreau’s Iron Man (well, maybe excluding one film to which I’m partial),” Gunn wrote. “Honestly, the movie is a complete blast! I was so happy after seeing it. It’s never boring for a second and it’s hilarious and warm throughout. It doesn’t get caught up in the webbing of its own science-fiction concept like so many movies do these days, remaining simple and elegant. It’s a part of the Marvel universe without being ruled by that fact. Paul Rudd is nuanced and charming and funny and is a surprisingly natural fit as a modern superhero (side-fact – Paul must be a nice guy, because he and I dated the same girl in college, and yet I still love him). Michael Peña KILLS IT – this movie is going to make him a huge star. My old pal Judy Greer (she was Deadly Girl to my Minute Man in The Specials many moons ago) is great in a small role. And Michael Douglas is awesome.”

Nope. I've never even watched an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Of course given the '70s nod I *have to* give Tower Heist a listen--once I get my peepers on the movie first, naturally wink (It's nice to see Woody Allen alumni Corey Stoll and Bobby Cannavale are in the cast).

jessica900's Ant-Man blurb gives me more cause for excitement, though unlike the kids, I avoid spoilers and reviews.

The CD listing for this on Amazon now says "unavailable". Could this be another Intrada release?

Many/most of Intrada's releases, especially the major ones, usually get carried by Amazon at some point, always for Intrada's asking price (but you can use free Prime shipping, so it's still a deal).

My bigger fear is that this will go digital-only.

Intrada's asking price is now more expensive than their own site for their Amazon offerings.

  • It doesn’t get caught up in the webbing of its own science-fiction concept

Translation: plot holes galore. I wonder if Edgar Wright shares the same feelings... yyyyyyyyno.

  • Michael Peña KILLS IT – this movie is going to make him a huge star.

This will? After all this time? I like the guy, but his stardom is long overdue.

  • My old pal Judy Greer (she was Deadly Girl to my Minute Man in The Specials many moons ago) is great in a small role.

    Aw, dammit.

Up and Avengers are CD-Rs at Amazon, though.

Let's not pretend these movies are aspiring to be Bergman or Fellini (though a few FSMers may fool themselves into thinking this).

Neither of those names appear in his review, so it looks like I won't have to; he just enthused over a good time watching a movie. wink

Some of you guys are just so tightly wound; maybe one of you could play the lead in "The Robert Ryan Story."

You're clearly mistaking me for a fanwhiner. The fate of this film, or its alleged cinematic importance, doesn't concern me. However, Judy Greer does.

The Guardian's review (not a good one) seems to be written by someone still butthurt about Edgar Wright's non-involvement (although after Hot Fuzz and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World left all my whelms distinctly under, I can't say that bothers me). The reviewer didn't like the score either.
