For this thread I'm gonna count a long piece as anything above 8 minutes (I rounded up for a few), especially since he wrote so many that were well over 10 minutes. Even if not all are classics, he wrote a ton! I'm gonna exclude the few that are made up of two or more cues (that I know of). Many of these have been mentioned before, I know, but the sheer scope and sweep to many of these, especially to heavy dramas, are often extremely moving. I'm only including what can be found on album, and not any unreleased material/extended film versions. If you have any to add, go right ahead!

"The Library" (Something Wicked This Way Comes), which at nearly nine minutes plays under Jonathan Pryce's near constant dialogue.

"Battle in the Mutara Nebula" from Star Trek II
"Elora Danan" from Willow

"Stealing the Enterprise" from Star Trek III, partly, is too obvious a knock-off of Prokofiev's "Death of Tybalt" from Romeo and Juliet to count as a "best" long cue.

Nice list! Now that would be an awesome compilation.

One of my favorite things about Horner was his willingness to write long, developed cues.

I'd love to make one! Math isn't my strong suit but all of this is about 17 hours or so.

Yes, but is 20 seconds at the start that are reminiscent of that Prokofiev piece really enough to dismiss the entire cue? That seems like a "baby with the bathwater" kind of reaction.

Wow, that's a lot. I thought it might fit on an MP3 disc. Guess not. Still make a good iTunes playlist.

No Part 5 or, in particular, Part 7, from Horner's Iris?

Part 5 is 11:00; Part 7 is 10:57, and Joshua Bell's playing totally elevates the music in both cues.

"The Launch" from APOLLO 13 is one of my favorite things ever. That and TWOK and TITANIC. So, so good.

I excluded those only because I'm not sure if they're combined cues, like he did with the "parts" of Beyond Borders

They're definitely not combined cues - they're sequenced as individual cues on the CD, and have distinct beginning/middle/ends unlike what he did in Beyond Borders.
