His words not mine.
The second one may have been a straight "rescue" without the abuse problem. I shall try to tactfully ask the next time.

My point was that the 2nd instance ("The Sum Of All Fears") would not have been the "rescue" (he certainly needed no rescue by then)--while "The Secret Of Nimh" could be seen as such as that was when he was still 7 years away from recovery.
Paul is known to have a very humble and self-deprecating nature so it's no surprise that he would have used that wording; if those actually were his words then quotation marks would have prevented any misinterpretation--otherwise it comes off as seeming like your words.

Anyway, no harm done. The man is amazing, regardless.

Ah, I see the misunderstanding. No one can really "rescue" anyone from addiction, that has to be done on your own. But you can rescue someone from bouts of unemployment, which is what he was addressing. Sorry if my wording came off that way.
Either way, as you point out, as a songwriter he is a giant.

I'm sorry, my friend, I'm still being misunderstood! LOL

I wasn't referring to him being rescued from addiction--I WAS referring to the notion of his career being rescued.
By 2002 his career needed no rescuing--he had, by then, already begun releasing his own albums again. I was merely acknowledging that his own choice of words was according to that self-deprecating aspect of his nature that I mentioned earlier. A highly-developed graciousness, if you will.

You know, I think that even if he never made another album after 1975 his important place in music was already secure. smile

Should I post a couple of videos?

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to attend, despite buying a ticket, due to exhaustion.

But you mention videos -- do you make videos of all the cabaret evenings, dare I hope? I've been thinking that the sizzling, scintillating chanteuse Kerry O'Malley's rendition of "I Can Cook, Too," (from the previous, Bernsteins' evening), should be preserved for the ages.

Zowie!

We only began doing videos a year ago, and it's not every show. We do have Kerry's but she doesn't like videos being out there. But I'll link to my You Tube channel shortly and there are a lot of Kritzerland videos there.

Did you all see the Kritzerland update - it disappeared off the page but there's something there that might be of interest to you guys. I changed the title of that thread to UPDATE: KRITZERLAND INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN.

One item is already gone so check it out quickly.

Here's one this group might enjoy. Flying Dreams from The Secret of NIMH, music by someone named Jerry Goldsmith, lyrics by Paul Williams. Sung by fourteen-year-old Jaidyn Young - her first time with us but I can assure you she will be back.
