I always felt what drew me to film music was its eclecticism. Every decade that goes by, new musical forms and genres are added to the palate available to film composers. This is exactly how it is with me. Took me awhile to realize that of course that's not how everyone comes to film music. We each come to music for a variety of reasons, and that's fine. But this is why I don't share the despair about how film music has changed, because I'm ready for whatever comes next. (Except the stuff I don't like )

It warms my heart to see this kind of versatility on display on FSM. In my mind, I have "grouped" certain members in categories over the years -- there's the Golden Age crowd, the 'gritty jazz' crowd, the Zimmer sound crowd, the orchestra-only guys, the electronica heads etc., etc. Few of them are seen here (understandably), but it's nice seeing the taste of other guys I haven't categorized yet, LOL. Thor, you should start a thread where you "profile" us (or those who are willing volunteers), and then we can tell you if you're correct or not...

Honking is overrated.

Honking is overrated. From the UK Highway Code: "A horn should only be used when warning someone of danger, not to indicate your annoyance at a manner of driving. A horn should not be sounded when stationary on a road at anytime, other than at times of danger due to another vehicle on or near the road. A horn should not be used on a moving vehicle on a restricted road (basically a road that has street lights and a 30mph limit) between the times of 2330hrs and 0700hrs." Y'see, when it's late, the law won't allow honking. What I'm saying here is, when it's late in the day, people sometimes narrow down their tastes and the neurons don't want to connect to anything new. They get set in their ways. So them thar oldies tend to honk less. I suppose that means you're pretty old then. What with this being the second time in 24 hours you've gone out of your way to have a totally unnecessary swing at these fellas with more breadth. Now I'm not talking girth here. You're not this fella, are you?
