What?! Wallace published Infinite Jest and went the book tour in question in 1996! He did commit suicide in 2008, but it wasn't on a book tour, and it certainly wasn't at the start of his fame. This is a side of Elfman I really love. Much like RESTLESS and PROMISED LAND, I can listen to this style of music and never get bored with it. Instrument-wise, I detected guitar, piano/keyboard and things like celeste/harmonium/chimes. It must be said the songs - by Felt, R.E.M, Tracy Ullman, Fun Boy 3, Brian Eno and Tindersticks - really help the CD flow and enhance Elfman's contributions (well, to me they do).
