From Roger: "The first releases is one of our rare forays into complete electronics. It comes from the mid 80s and was previously available only on LP, but now appears in expanded CD format. Interestingly the main theme seems like a trial run for a theme the composer wrote just a few months later for an orchestral score to a blockbuster film that made him an A level composer.

The second release is a reissue of an earlier Special Collection release that sold out way too fast. This release is rebuilt from the ground up to offer better fidelity, adds an extra alternate, and slightly modified packaging. Mainly for those that missed it the first time around, but good title to have back in the catalog as it's a classic 70s thriller."

Hopefully the second release is "Capricorn One."

The 80s title is clearly Alan Silvestri's Cat's Eye.

Yep sounds like Alan Silvestri.

The 80s title is clearly Alan Silvestri's Cat's Eye.

That makes complete sense, and even after I realized it was probably a Varese LP I still wasn't able to guess it.

Roger did say late last year:

"We are working on Capricorn One reissue, but not yet."

So, I'm going with that, too.

Wow, I had never heard Cat's Eye, but checking it out, holy crap, there's the Back To The Future theme.

I guess A LOT of people are gonna be P.O'd that they joined that Varese CD Club thingy-ma-jig only to realise Intrada had the one that they want...ooh ooh ooh honey!!

Did anyone join the Varese subscription *only* to get Cat's Eye? I'd find that a little strange.

But if someone is a crazy Cat's Eye fan, I would think they'd be rather happy that Intrada is expanding it, rather than it getting a straight LP program reissue, so that might take some of the edge off of the spending pain.

I was tongue in cheek there Yavar, but there probably are a FEW crazy CAT'S who did just for that!

I was on the fence about joining the club to see if CAT'S EYE would appear, so hooray for Intrada.

Also, fuck yeah CAPRICORN ONE.

The Deep?

I really hope it's Capricorn One, though, as I missed out on the original release.

yes this! so glad I didn't get involved in that whole subscription thing for a low percentage shot at cat's eye. if this is getting done right from intrada that is fantastic!

I knew I must have missed out on Capricorn One for one damn good reason.

Oh shit... I'm starting to think a lot like YOU GUYS!big grinbig grin I IMMEDIATELY said to myself it's CAP-1 and Cat's Eye. If these ARE the titles, it'll be the first time EVER that I guessed correctly! If CAP-1 has new material, I'll definitely double-dip!

I didn't join just for Cat's Eye, but it is on my wish list so I am stoked at the idea of an Intrada expansion!

On a related note, between Cat's Eye and Predator 1 & 2 I think we have an alternate Back To the Future score.

I have both the original soundtrack and the album re-recording of Capricorn One.
The album re-recording is the one I always play.

The original recording of CO is the superior one. I never appreciated the re-recorded score on GNP Records and eventually traded it away; I don't remember what I traded it for, but I'm sure it was a wise swap.

Both have a place. The fuller orchestrations - especially the album arrangement of "Breakout" - certainly make the original album a keeper.
