Just noticed that this title is owned by StudioCanal, and since they seem quite happy to licence their titles for download (witness Total Recall, Cutthroat Island, Basic Instinct) maybe Intrada will offer this for download in the future?
Yeah i thought that too, i am wandering if Intrada messed up the plans of Varese now they also seem to be inspired by the list of possible candidates for Vareses LP to CD subscription series.
If they did. Varese would only have put out a 29 min album on cd...we got a expanded release minus the dang song.
Well that is presuming Varese still has the rights to release it and I doubt they would be unaware of Intrada working on this. For me the biggest reason to even consider the Varese lp to cd releases was the possibility of Cat's Eye being part of it, though I passed because of the insane international shipping price tag and the possibility it would not be included which turns out to be the case. Had it been reissued, it would just have been a reissue and I'd have stuck with the LP transfer I already have.
This Intrada release has twice as much music on it as the LP did and considering it's an anthology movie, I look forward to hearing the individual segments play out. The samples already sound fun.
As for the song not being included, perhaps too expensive to license? I don't like the song at all so no loss, but it is obviously inspired by the movie so it would still have made sense to include it.
I believe it is due to copy right issues. I think the sound quality is muddy on this one and it seems that there is some dry metallic filter used over these analog scores...which i don't like. My treble had to be moved from center at "0" to all the way to the right. Gremlins 2 sounds very dry too. What the hell?!
Their shipping charges are outrageous and ridiculously high. The overcharges are all profit for them. I work in the shipping business and you can send 10 CDs cases and all for $8 via the US Post Office. They want to charge you $20.
How many of youns think that Screen Archives shipping charges are ridiculously expensive?
