I just found out that Varese released this score by the keyboard player from The Cars.

Anyone here who owns this or have seen the film who can comment on the music?

Any plans from Varese to put this out on CD with liner notes??

It could end up being part of the Varese LP to CD box set. Time will tell.

I just received this album. A quite exciting and melodic electronic score by Hawkes, sadly overlooked and forgotten, clearly from the man behind great Cars songs like Drive and Heartbeat City. Had been really interesting if Varese decided to put this out on CD with liner notes and comments by Hawkes and the director Yurek Bogayevicz.

Strange that Hawkes never wrote another score, except the TV movie documentary No Hair Day from 2001.

Comments?

With Tangerine Dream on one end of the scale, and Jay Chatter on the other end, where you place this score?

Also, do the liner notes list Greg's synths?

No. Typically for Varese, the back cover of the LP gives only the film credits and the album production credits.

I guess it doesn't have the power and melodrama of a TD score, but it's well written and produced. I have a feeling he performs on synclaviers, but I'm not sure.

He even arranges a Chopin piece in Wendy Carlos style, and the track "Today's Party" is kind of an ironic Pet Shop Boys disco number which brought a smile to my face.
