What soundtracks from movie musicals would you like to see released or reissued?Personally,I'd love to see CDs of "1776","Scrooge",and "At Long Last Love" to start, even if they're the original LP versions. As for reissues,I'd like to see Disney/Intrada do deluxe versions of "The Happiest Millionaire","Bedknobs And Broomsticks","Pete's Dragon","Babes In Toyland",and "The One and Only,Genuine Original Family Band".

Complete issues (a la the Rhino musical issues and the FSM issues of "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" and "Belle of New York") of "Till the Clouds Roll By," "Words and Music" and "Deep in My Heart". This raises the question as to how much additional music is to be found in the classic 1960s musicals for which we've only had song soundtracks. I'm thinking of films such as THE MUSIC MAN, STATE FAIR, FUNNY GIRL, OLIVER, SWEET CHARITY, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, etc. I'd like to see Deputy Riley do a Complete Score Breakdown for some of these. As for musicals that have never had a CD release, SONG OF NORWAY is at the top of my list. Also STOP THE WORLD--I WANT TO GET OFF, HALF A SIXPENCE, and THREE FOR THE SHOW.

Ron's got it right, with FINIAN'S and all those MGM classics --to which I would add THE BARKLEYS OF BROADWAY and INVITATION TO THE DANCE. And from Fox: DADDY LONG LEGS, (and was there ever a CD of GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES?). There's more, of course, but that would do for openers...

All the Disney stuff plus the not Disney Cinderella. I assume you are referring to The Slipper and the Rose.

For me it's the underscore for so many movie musicals that gets left behind. Specifically, some of Elvis's more popular films (BLUE HAWAII, etc.) have some great underscore - a box set for something like this would be order. Likewise for some of Streisand's films, particularly the underscore for YENTL. I know the songs are what people care about for musicals, so I've answered my own question, but surely there's a film score niche for these, as well as completist fans who would be interested, no?
