FRIDAY, JULY 24 JURASSIC WORLD 2---the sequel is officially underway with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard confirmed as returning. Colin Treverrow returns as co-writer but will not direct the sequel. Premiere is June 22, 2018. JURASSIC WORLD is the third highest-grossing movie of all time with $1.52 billion earned. STAR WARS: EPISODE I-THE PHANTOM MENACE---Michael Jackson wanted to play Jar Jar Binks in the movie. Ahmed Best who played Jar Jar in THE PHANTOM MENACE said, "Me, Natalie Portman and George [Lucas]'s kids...were at Wembley arena at Michael Jackson's concert. We were taken backstage, and we met Michael. There was Michael and Lisa Marie [Presley]. George introduced me as 'Jar Jar,' and I was like, 'That's kind of weird.' Michael was like, 'Oh. OK.' I thought, 'What is going on? After Michael had driven off, we all go back up to a big after-party. I'm having a drink with George, and I said, 'Why did you introduce me as Jar Jar?' He said, 'Well, Michael wanted to do the part, but he wanted to do it in prosthetics and makeup like Thriller. George wanted to do it in CGI. My guess is ultimately Michael Jackson would have been bigger than the movie, and I don't think he wanted that." BAYWATCH---Seth Gordon (HORRIBLE BOSSES) will direct the Dwayne Johnson movie based on the tv series. KNIGHT OF CUPS----Terence Malick movie on Hollywood's excesses starring Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Brian Dennehy and Antonio Banderas. SPIDER-MAN---a photo, supposedly posted by the Russo brothers who will direct the reboot movie, shows a closeup of the new Spider-Man costume. X-MEN---director Bryan Singer said a movie crossover with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four may be in the future, "Those ideas are in play. That would be a natural match-up because they're both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it. It deals with time. That's all I'm going to say." RIZZOLI & ISLES---TNT renewed the series for Season 7. DA VINCI'S DEMONS---Starz cancelled the series with Season 3 being the last season. THE COMEDIANS---FX cancelled the Billy Crystal series. FIRST THEY KILLED MY FATHER---Angelina Jolie will co-write and direct this Netflix tv movie based on the memoir Cambodian human rights activist Loung Ung.
