My daughter plays a few video games and this is one of them. She mentioned that the soundtrack to this one is quite amazing. Her birthday is sometime in the not too distant future and being the typical mom who wants to give their kid something special, I looked into purchasing this. Well, after I recovered from passing out while viewing it on Amazon and eBay, I decided to come here to inquire....
Is this score really that amazing and why is it so @$#@$# expensive??? Is anyone here familiar with the game and/or soundtrack to it? Thanks.
Fire Emblem has a small but very passionate following. It's one of those things that seems to appeal to a small subset who then consider it one of the best games in the genre.
eBay isn't always the best place to price out VGM. Have you tried Amazon?
There was a single-disc version released in Japan for Club Nintendo members. Not cheap either, but much less than what the scalpers are charging for the out-of-print 4-disc box set.
Thanks for the info. She likes the game but keeps everything in perspective. I looked at all the options and all too rich for my blood. She will be fine without it. It was me who came up with the idea. She also likes Kingdom Hearts and tons of other things, thank goodness.
Unfortunetly a lot of Nintendo game soundtracks -- when they get an OST release at all -- are limited or bonuses for points, etc. The best place to see what exists and what the actual price was, and potentially a CDJapan store link, is www.vgmdb.net
I just went to a gaming convention last night. There's usually a vendor there who's selling VGM dirt cheap - I've bought a lot from him this year. Next time I see him I'll ask if he has this kicking around.

Of course, is it real or bootleg stuff? I'm already wearing at hearing about Japanese imports being sold "dirt cheap" because they are very often Taiwanese (or whatever) bootlegs that look real but are easy to spot because the publish and catalog number are different.

UPDATE:
I have to correct my original thread. In passing today, I asked my daughter what the name of "that game soundtrack" was to be sure I had written here about the correct one. Well, I didn't. Apparently it is called "Fire Emblem Fates", not Awakening. I'm sorry for the confusion but I am not surprised at my error. I don't follow these things and it's not usually topic of our mother/daughter outings.
Anyway, from what I gather it is not out yet or only in Japan. I thank you again for all of your info though.
It looks like the Japanese title for Fire Emblem Fates is Fire Emblem If. I don't see an official soundtrack release yet in Japan either. I'm always keeping an eye on what's coming out in Japan, so if I ever see an upcoming release of it I'll be sure to let you know.
