This forum has time and time again proven to be the absolutely most disgusting place in the entirety of the interwebs. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. I'd not even venture within reading distance of this site. Keep out if you not what is good for ya.

A little pompous is to be expected on a forum dedicated to the greatest living film composer! Unlike FSM we are a tight knit community. Like a nice small pub where everyone kinda knows each other, rather then a huge grand cafe near an international airport where people just pop in because it's convenient.

I have seen enough examples of discourtesy and disrespect of others' opinions on a number of discussion/comment sites, be it film music, Blu-ray review sites, etc. And I am dismayed by the attitude of some who regard themselves as the gatekeeper as it were, of a particular artist's work, who take it upon themselves to be the measure of expertise and knowledge. Woe to those who offer a different opinion or point of view! I totally understand the enjoyment, pleasure and even passion some may feel about these matters, but being civil and being tactful in disagreeing ought to be of highest importance. It's about proper perspective--after all, it isn't like someone has called another person's mother a foul name. I can so much better enjoy a blog when there is polite discussion, even if it is spirited, and thankfully for most of us, that is the case.

I post there quite frequently. I like the conversational/banter atmosphere that Thor doesn't care for much, and people tend to get more in-depth on certain topics that interest me in a way that doesn't really happen around here. It's livelier. I saw the John Williams Health Issues Thread thing, and I didn't bother reading it. Doesn't seem tasteful to me, but for people who do feel like talking about such things, go at it. I'll ignore it in the same way I ignore all of the other threads that don't interest me. I do think that JWFan can be a little unwelcoming to new members, just in the sense that those of us who have been there for ~15 years or nearly as long have a rapport which includes some bickering, insulting, etc. Just observing that, from a new poster's perspective, is likely daunting. And on the older posters' side it sometimes seems difficult for some to remember to "turn off" the attitude and use a gentler demeanor with a new person.

I find all threads on the net have some of this in common so I ignore most of them easy to make comments when anonymous

as well as slagging off the FSM board and myself . They are like a bunch of spoiled kids ... its good to lurk and see some of the mad responses. Didnt you start by slagging off JWFan though? Cause and effect dude. If you can have your say about that place here, we can do so there!
