Roger Feigelson writes: I have an early day tomorrow so I wanted to get these out a little earlier than usual. The first goes all the way back to 2013. A small sci-fi film with a score by a guy who is no stranger to sci-fi or fantasy. New to Intrada, though. The second is a classic animated film from the early 80s that gets a slight expansion. It's been on CD twice, and the second presentation was a great album. While there's more music in the film, the main thing missing was one set piece cue. After an exhaustive search (did I say it was exhaustive?), we able to locate...the multitrack for that missing set piece. The other bits and pieces were not to be found anywhere. But what a find! We also located some alternate vocal demos. This is it guys...it's as good as it's going to get. But going back to the original masters allowed for updated mastering as well. I'm not sure what the first one could be. Could the second one be the long-awaited expanded release of Secret of NIMH?

Sure does sound like NIMH. Not sure about the small sci-fi film - which composers has Intrada never released? Could it be Riddick by Graeme Revell? Chris Is Riddick a small film?

NIMH and Riddick sound extremely plausible. NIMH is a favorite score of mine, but since I know the album much better than the movie, I can't remember what's missing. Somewhat disappointing if the complete version can never be found (though to be honest I won't know what it's missing without watching the film again), but happy to have it remastered, slightly expanded, and presumably sequenced properly (the two finale cues are top-notch Goldsmith, and the CD I have puts them in the wrong order).

Europa Report for the small 2013 sci fi film? Already available. (on McCreary's label?). Also, I think they already did a McCreary CD. (Rest Stop?) if it weren't Riddick, I wish it were Richter's Last Days on Mars, but Riddick fits the clue better.

I do have N.I.M.H. both on vinyl and CD (both by Varese Sarabande); it is an exceptionally good score, even among Goldsmith's output it ranks very high. Parts of the score seem inspired by Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé, another favorite score of mine. The Secret of N.I.M.H. is long overdue for a re-release; would be a shame if the original masters are lost.
