MONDAY, AUGUST 17

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS---poster leased for the sequel by famed poster artist Drew Struzan.

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX---Lucasfilm announced that Colin Trevorrow (JURASSIC WORLD) will direct the sequel. Trevorrow said, "This is not a job or an assignment. It is a seat at a campfire, surrounded by an extraordinary group of storytellers, filmmakers, artists and craftspeople. We've been charged with telling new stories for a younger generation because they deserve what we all had - a mythology to call their own. We will do this by channeling something George Lucas instilled in all of us: boundless creativity, pure invention and hope."

STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE---Mads Mikkelsen (CASINO ROYALE) and Alan Tudyk (FIREFLY) have joined the cast with Tudyk having a capture performance role. Also, the first cast photo was released show most of the cast of Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker.

THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 2---a poster released on Twitter inadvertently spelled the C-word over Jennifer Lawrence's face and was later deleted.

KYLIE JENNER---after Jenner's 18th birthday, porn video companies made offers to her for a sex tape with boyfriend rapper Tyga. Among them was Vivid Entertainment, which released half-sister Kim Kardashian's sex tape, with an offer of $10 million. BangYouLater's offer was $1.8 million and a promise that "This event will make you even more famous than either Kim K or Paris Hilton." DigitalPlayground.com's offer stated, "Now that you are of legal age, we would like to offer you the opportunity to be Digital Playground's Brand Ambassador! We know you'll be great at this and with your banging body to match, maybe you'll be interested in becoming an adult star yourself! Join DigitalPlayground.com and be welcomed into a new, hornier family."

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE---a fan claims artwork released from the sequel indicated The Joker used to be Robin. The fan said a photo of The Joker shows two shoulder scars and a trailer shows two rips in Robin's costume shoulders corresponding to The Joker's scars.

CAPTAIN MARVEL---Ronda Rousey is campaigning for the starring role in the movie and released fan artwork showing her as Captain Marvel.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE---a fan claimed he was on the set when The Blob was filming his part. The fan said the actor playing The Blob was, "French Canadian dude 540 lbs (one solid big fat guy)."

RED---NBC tv series underway based on the movies that starred Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Mary-Louise Parker.

RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER---Ali Larter confirmed the sequel is truly the last in the franchise.

UNDERWORLD 5---Tobias Menzies (GAME OF THRONES) will play Marius, the new Lycan leader.

NOCTURNAL ANIMALS---Kim Basinger will co-star with Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams in the movie based on the novel TOM AND SUSAN.

No, please , no. She is a tremendously unappealing woman, always seen with her "I'm a tough bitch" smug look. Hey, she might be the nicest lady in the world, but to me she has the aura of a trailer park bully. Plus, she's now an actress, huh?

Won't happen.

Get ready to feel old, some of you - Kim's playing Amy's mother (which is certainly an upgrade from playing Eminem's).

"Poster leased"? You mean "released"?

I like the Force Awakens poster, though I think Han`s image down there seems not quite comfortable. Still, nice to see actual paintings.

Ms. Marvel played by Rousey? Why not.

This is not the official poster, it's a promotional teaser poster for D23.

Really generic. Could be any movie. Doesn't look like Star Wars. More like Falling Skies.

If you want correct spelling, then you do the movie/tv news yourselves. It's taking about 5 hours a day for each movie/tv thread now that my pc is having its well-documented problems and Photobucket continues to have its technical problems.
I'm ignoring my own personal business to get the movie/tv news out every day including sacrificing my sleep.
I lost any personal interest in posting the movie/tv news years ago when Hollywood morphed into Ironman/Superman/Batman comic book movies, remakes/reboots/prequels/sequels, zombie apocalypses, teen vampires-in-love and I have to find movie articles among the endless articles about the Kardashians, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, but I continued because its popular with the other posters.
If I don't do this pain-in-the-ass thread everyday, it would be a great relief to me.

Much as I appreciate seeing the movie and tv news from you each day, I'm worried that it's a burden. Might it be worth trying to switch to a different schedule, say, twice weekly, and see if that's any less hassle?

"Doesn't look like Star Wars. More like Falling Skies"
------------------------------------
I remember when I was getting into SW as a kid, the stills from the films (SW, TESB and ROTJ) in the preview magazines leapt out of the pages at me with their colour and vibrancy.
That collection of rogues does look more like the dour Falling Skies, NOT Star Wars at all.
Of course the film might turn out to be great (although I have doubts about it's suspense and tension aspects, when, much like that Tom Cruise Hitler film, the outcome is never in doubt).

Truth be told: I really, really appreciate these threads of yours. They're pretty much the only ones I always come back to read on the forum every day. That said, if it is such a burden on your time - and it damn well sounds like it - not putting these threads up would be understandable. Think more for you and of you, man - if its stressing you out, let it go.

In terms of mass media culture, we live in probably the crappiest time I can think of. Yes, I realize thats a popular thing for unearned cynics to say - but the majority of our "output" is really movie reboots, comic book media, whos-sleeping-with-who updates on talking head television shows, Dr Oz / Phil / Doom, Judge [Insert Name Here], internet ads about muscle building pills someone doesn't want you to know about...

And the thing is its all empty bullshit.

15 years ago, I fantasized about hearing an Episode VII announcement. Absolutely nothing in the world would make me as happy as hearing that come to pass. But the fact is Star Wars - which was once pulpy, fun, irreverent scifi in a bottled universe - is now this ever-growing benign mass. Sold to Disney, the couldn't jump quick enough into making something - ANYTHING - with the brand

(Dr Ian Malcolm's speech of "your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should" in Jurassic Park goes here.)

And now we have this washed out photo of a group of people standing around looking morose and I can't tell if its the same or worse than the photo for the (dull, dull, dull looking) Suicide Squad. That is not what Star Wars should look like.

This is what Star Wars is about. Big, colorful, full of drama. If I wanted to see people sulking around like a bunch of Millennials at a My Chemical Romance concert, I'd sooner cut my wrists lengthwise.

I have a bad, bad fear that what Disney has coming - this focus group crap which is what killed SW when it was churning out crap like Force Unleashed 2 - isn't going to be up to snuff for people with IQs higher than their shoe size.

I love these threads dragon53. It's something I look forward to every day.

If people have to be anal about spelling then they should also provide evidence of their sacrosanct status.

I think the "Star Wars Stories" movies (RIP "Anthology") will showcase a variety of different styles, storytelling techniques, color pallettes, etc. The "Episodes" will be in a more familiar Star Wars style.

I also think that it's hard to get a feel for the movie based on one dimly lit shot. If you look closely, quite a bit of the stuff (costume, sets, props) in that photo is iconic Star Wars stuff. The parka on the one character is the same issue as Hoth parkas in Empire (including Han's). If the set is not Yavin Base from Star Wars, the design is very similar.

Have you seen the trailers and set pics for The Force Awakens? Everything from the color palette to the lighting looks in line with the Star Wars movies. No matter what people end up feeling about the plot and script, this movie will look and sound like a Star Wars movie.

GUYS:

Thanks for the support. There are mistakes on the movie/tv news---some by me and some are in the original articles that I don't catch. I don't mind posters bringing those mistakes to my attention----but a complaint about one misspelled word after over five hours of agonizing work with a problem-plagued pc and Photobucket is too much.
Thanks again for the support.

I'm curious to know if Batman vs Superman will also be release this year?
I thought it will be shown next year.
