KONG: SKULL ISLAND---Derek Connolly (JURASSIC WORLD) is rewriting the script to the King Kong prequel movie which stars Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson. Filming starts in October.

MILLER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL---documentary underway about the canceled George Miller (MAD MAX) superhero movie JUSTICE LEAGUE MORTAL. Australian filmmaker Ryan Unicomb said, "It's a nervous wait. George Miller and [his producing partner] Doug Mitchell know about the project, so now it all hangs on Warner Bros' involvement." Unicomb needs Warner Bros.' approval to use characters and images from the movie in his documentary which would probably be a prelude to Miller cooperating. Unicomb also hopes to have the cast of Armie Hammer, Megan Gale and DJ Cotrona also participating.

DOCTOR WHO---Hayley Atwell (MARVEL'S AGENT CARTER) was asked if she would like to guest star on the series. She replied, “I’d like to BE Doctor Who".
Writer AL Kennedy (THE DROSTEN'S CURSE) said, “As a heterosexual woman, I have no interest in a female Doctor. He’s kind of got a guy vibe, the Doctor. A hopeless, undomestic, dozy, dreamy guy-type of eccentricity. It’s not a girl-type of eccentricity. I’d be surprised if he changed gender.”

WAR MACHINE---Brad Pitt, Anthony Michael Hall and Topher Grace star in this Netflix satirical movie based on the book THE OPERATORS: THE WILD AND TERRIFYING INSIDE STORY OF AMERICA'S WAR IN AFGHANISTAN.

THE FLASH---photo released of Adam Copeland as Atom-Smasher.

LOST CITY OF Z---Tom Holland (SPIDER-MAN reboot) joins the cast of Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller and Roger Pattinson in the movie based on the book about British explorer Percy Fawcett who disappeared while searching for a fabled city in the Amazon jungle.

JONNY QUEST---producer Adrian Askarieh said about the Robert Rodriguez live-action movie remake of the 1960s animated series, "We want to make a PG-13... This is not going to be a kiddie action-adventure movie; this will be an action-adventure that happens to have a 12-year-old in it... That's, all of us, that's what we want. That's our M.O. for this movie. Indiana Jones meets James Bond."

CARL SAGAN---untitled biomovie underway at Warner Bros. with a script by Zach Dean (DEADFALL).

FANTASTIC FOUR---the original script by Jeremy Slater (rewritten by Simon Kinberg) included the following:

1. Victor Von Doom feeding Reed's research to spies from his homeland of Latveria.
2. The 'Quantum Gate' is actually a space-time rip and on the other side isn't a wasteland but an alien city filled with skeleton skilled in some cataclysm.
3. Exploring it, they discover Galactus who chases them and the Dark Matter he fires from his hands strikes the Quantum Gate - the creation hitting the four key team members. Victor meanwhile seems to have been killed beforehand by a blast of the Dark Matter.
4. Four years on, the Latverian government is using the information Victor fed them to create their own Quantum Gate. They succeed, but the first team is killed and the only returnee? Victor Von Doom who is now made entirely of Dark Matter and takes over the country almost immediately.
5. Dr. Elder, who has been previously introduced, gets Moloid juice on him at this point and is transformed into Mole Man. At the same time a Moloid gets injected with dark matter and becomes a monstrous being the four have to fight.
6. Victor builds a giant Dark Energy cannon which he intends to use to destroy Galactus as he's been forced to become Galactus' herald and help him find a new world to eat - Earth. But Von Doom intends to destroy Galactus before that can happen.
7. The final battle in Latveria reveals that Doom is actually a 'Doombot' with the real Victor physically attached to the planet in the Negative Zone and has sent tendrils of his being to Earth. The film ends with the Fantastic Four preparing the Earth for the coming menace of Galactus.

RUNNING WILD---Sharon Stone will play the villain in this movie about a woman who attempts to save her ranch by enlisting convicts to help her break a herd of wild horses.

THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE---tv series underway based on the Ty Hunter novels in which a covert military agent becomes a leading movie star. The President then asks him to prevent the spread of illegal nuclear weapons.

STAR TREK BEYOND---Lydia Wilson (RIPPER STREET) has joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

CLEOPATRA---tv series underway about how an 18 year-old girl became the Queen of the Nile. Shekhar Kapur (ELIZABETH) is the writer/director.

Seems like this has been in development forever and they still don't have a script?! Now the news just got much worse.

They're rewriting the script, which may have to do with certain actors leaving the film and their replacements coming onboard.

The first King Kong film was successful and I believe Kong: Skull Island will also roar. The action/ adventure film will set a mark in VFX also. Holding a lot of expectations on that. You can see the examples here: http://platinumplatypus.com

And here we go again. Green Lantern, if they really can't hold back their knee jerk reflex to go rainbow coalition colour-blind then why not make him the purple lantern or blue lantern? I know they made that ground breaking story about racism in the 70s but that doesn't mean Green Lantern has to change from a hair headed white man into a bald black man; he's Green Lantern, not Zelig.
Suggestion for Marvel: have Black Panther played by Damian Lewis.

Hey DS.....While I agree with your view on this about established characters (e.g. FF's Johnny Storm)....

Green Lantern has been represented by an (almost bald) black man - John Stewart.

And indeed was in the Justice League Animated series

I think this was where the casting was going with the never made Justice League movie.

Cheers

Green Lantern is a position, not a person. A member of the Green Lantern Corps. In comics, quite a few humans have been Green Lantern of the sector containing Earth (Hal Jordan, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardener - possibly some others, but those are the main ones), oftentimes concurrently with one another.

Not that it really matters - race is not an inherent character trait in most comic book characters.

John Stewart was first introduced in the 1970s.

1971, to be exact.

FYI, that graphic represents the cast of George Miller's shelved Justice League: Mortal movie from the late 2000s.

Not for nothing, but Stewart has always been a terrific character. DC canceling Green Lantern Mosaic was baffling, since it had some of the richest storytelling in comics at the time.

This was a particularly good issue - http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Green_Lantern:_Mosaic_Vol_1_5

To quote Bill Maher "I must be wearing orthopedic shoes because I stand corrected".
Then again I was aware that there is a black GL but the drawing to actor translation scheme was confusing. Had they put a black GL there, I hadn't complained.

I'm not militanty against changing the race of a character (I posted here before that I am very interested in seeing what Idris Elba as James Bond would be like), but I am militantly against the current trend of the US PC-dictate of "register your diversity entry here before 2016 or be branded a racist forever" that's now also infecting other countries. It's that or just a cheap attempt to create a buzz.
The one thing that I dare wager is not going to change is Alfred, that one stays white. After all, imagine the outcry from the PC-police if he were black, "haven't we as a society learned anything".

Had Blade been played by Jason Statham instead of Wesley Snipes, my dislike and disdain for that idea would have been of equal extraordinary magnitude.

(And I don't want him to be played by a different race either)
