THURSDAY, AUGUST 20
THE ODYSSEY---Hugh Jackman is in negotiations to star in this Lionsgate movie based on Homer's epic tale of Odysseus's journey to return to his wife Penelope after the Trojan War. Francis Lawrence (THE HUNGER GAMES) is the director. Peter Craig (THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY Part 1 and 2) is the writer.
DOCTOR WHO---executive producer Brian Minchin gave a sneak preview of Season 9's episodes. The first eight episodes will include four two-part stories.
1. Missy and a snake made up of other snakes.
2. Ghosts in an underwater base.
3. Maisie Williams (GAME OF THRONES) and Vikings in outer space.
4. Rogue Zygons hunt down Osgood in Mexico as she texts Doctor Who for help. This is a sequel to the 50th anniversary special.
Episode 9 involves found footage and will be unlike any previous episode of DOCTOR WHO.
FEAR THE WALKING DEAD--trailer released for the zombie spinoff series.

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE---Michael Shannon commented on returning as General Zod, "I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands. So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the f**k is he?’ and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!’”
KONG: SKULL ISLAND---Toby Kebbell (FANTASTIC FOUR) has joined the King Kong prequel starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly.
FIFTY SHADES DARKER---James Foley (HOUSE OF CARDS, GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS) is the top candidate to direct the sequel.
JUNGLE CRUISE---Dwayne Johnson will star in this Walt Disney Pictures movie based on the Disneyland attraction.
LBJ---Kim Allen (ARMY WIVES) will play Jacqueline Kennedy in this biomovie about Lyndon Baines Johnson succeeding John F. Kennedy after his assassination. Woody Harrelson, Bill Pullman and Richard Jenkins also star.
VALERIAN---Clive Owen will play Commander Arun Filitt in this Luc Besson sci fi movie based on the French comic that also stars Dean DeHaan and Carla Delevingne.
DANTE'S INFERNO---Warner Bros. movie underway based on the classic poem in which Dante goes “through the nine circles of hell to save the woman he loves.”
CIA---untitled CBS series underway from the MYTHBUSTERS team of Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage in which two Hollywood special effects experts are recruited by the CIA to help in its covert ops missions.
PROTOCOL ORPHANS---Fox series underway based on the graphic novel about a foster family of orphans who are covert ops agents for the government. Amanda Segel (PERSON OF INTEREST) is the writer/executive producer.
FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS---Jemaine Clement said he and Bret McKenzie are working on a movie based on their HBO series.
KENTUCKY BOURBON---new untitled Fox series from Bruce Romans (HELL ON WHEELS) about the sordid patriarch of a family and its Kentucky bourbon empire.
