This is a beautiful score by Armando Trovajoli. One of his last. What are your thoughts on it? Does it exist on CD?

Released in Italy, I believe, on the Image Music label, under its original title LA TERRA DEL RITORNO. Don't know how available it is... and since I haven't heard it, I can't comment if I like it or not.

Sorry barryfan, that wasn't very useful. I am nevertheless constantly impressed by my own infallible memory and vast knowledge about everything from Italian soundtrack releases to poster art of the '60s and '70s.

Yes, that's right.

I bought this when it was a new release. Still own it, but listen to very infrequently.
La Terra del Ritorno was a Canadian TV movie from 2004, and made in English, but apparently the music was recorded in Italy.
I have no doubt actress Sophia Loren was involved in the selection of Armando Trovajoli for the music.
Trovajoli had scored many high profile films starring Loren since 1960; the ones directed by Vittorio De Sica are perhaps the most well-known of these.

I recall liking this album better than Trovajoli's music for the re-make of La Ciociara (aka Two Women) from 1988.

La Terra del Ritorno might be the (chronologicaly) final soundtrack album by Trovajoli, since the discs released after 2004 seem to be all compilation albums containing prior works by Armando.

Thanks for the help guys. The thing is, I can't find anywhere online where I can buy it as a CD. Only download. Yuk. lol

Zardoz, if you are interested in selling me your copy, I am all ears. I would make you a good deal.

Thank you for the offer, barryfan.
Let me consider it for 2 days or so ... I'll retrieve it from my stacks of CDs to give it another listen. Most likely, I'll rip the CD to my PC (haven't done this with most of my albums, so far).

If you wish, I can deposit more detailed feedback in this thread on how the album sounds and its musical content.

Don't be surprised if I follow you up on your offer. smile

Hi, barryfan.

I haven't forgotten about you. smile

I literally dusted off my CD of La Terra del Ritorno as it was the top album on a stack of CDs.
The album is in fine condition with just a little wear on the jewel case (which is complete with the silver stamp sticker that we see on imports from Italy).
The liner notes are in Italian only, so there's no English translation.

The overall production values of this CD are very impressive. The CD booklet is very nicely designed and printed; most importantly the sound quality is very good and the recording done in Roma is sumptuous.

You likely already sampled the sound bits from the download.
Even though you were not initially interested in the download, the sound quality might have changed your mind.
Are you still interested in this CD?

Let me know, if so, and indicate where you want me to contact you...
