It's sometimes a little daunting to express appreciation of a person's work when I have such a narrow knowledge of it. I really only know his Star Trek scores. And I know he wrote a great deal more than that. But if nothing else I had to write to say thanks for his theme for Spock.

It's sad - yes, sad that so few enthusiasts of Gerald Fried's music have chosen to share their enthusiasm with the man, Gerald Fried, himself. I offered, via my personal E-mail address, a direct conduit to communicate with Gerry and state your appreciation and admiration for him and his music in a one-on-one fashion. Instead most all of you have chosen to settle for posting your remarks as a silly thread at this site, obviously preferring instead to post them publically so that you can continue to fawn, again and again, over your printed words in a manner akin to a narcisisstic person continually seeking out their image in a mirror. Some of you have requested that your remarks be extended to Gerry, while others have posed questions. It is not my place to 'extend' your regards, nor to answer questions to which Gerry himself is capable of responding. Gerry does not scan this website and will never be aware of his 'silent', yet reverant following if you do not make it known to him. One last chance - send your comments to dofbus@yahoo.com Do not address them to me - just say "Hello, Mr. Fried, or Gerry, or whatever and go from there. No need to be afraid. Gerry is the most congenial and kind person one could hope to meet and know. He will be very pleased to hear from you. dofbus, aren't you getting two threads mixed up? I started this one because your original had disappeared and I wanted to try to resurrect it. Yes, some silly comments on THIS thread, but I honestly don't see much silliness on the Appreciation thread you started. And all those assumptions about us fawning again and again over our printed words like a narcissist staring in the mirror... well, again, I see nothing but healthy admiration for Mr Fried's work on the other thread, whether we chose to send him our best wishes personally or not. I think it would have been better if you had expressed your reaction at the thread in question, instead of on this one, which had already served its purpose and sank after the original was revived.

I does use e-mail. If he wanted to join us, he could. Maybe I could ask him. I'll let you know.
