In collaboration with Sugar Music, Music Box Records is pleased to present on the same CD two original motion picture soundtracks composed and conducted by Claude Bolling: L’Ordinateur des pompes funèbres (Gérard Pirès, 1976) and Dis-moi que tu m’aimes (Michel Boisrond, 1974).

Directed in 1976 by Gérard Pirès, based on Walter Kempley’s novel The Probability Factor, L’Ordinateur des pompes funèbres (The Undertaker Parlor Computer) tells the story of Fred (Jean-Louis Trintignant), a statistician who develops computer software capable of programming the death of loved ones he wishes to see disappear, beginning with his wife Gloria (Lea Massari). This is an homage to the American film noir genre. The film is a mix of police story and black humour. Claude Bolling composed a jazzy score and alternates between sombre and mysterious moods (blended with a Mancini-style of humour), and parts written for a big band, expressing the murderous impulses and madness of the hero. Some are pieces written in a serious tone and others in “new romantic” style, these serve to reinforce the satirical aspect of the film through employment of irony.

Dis-moi que tu m’aimes (Tell Me You Love Me) is a film, directed by Michel Boisrond, in which the humour in particular is inscribed in the vein of French bedroom farce, a genre Claude Bolling took a part in on many occasions in the 1970s. Claude Bolling’s sophisticated and inventive music is more often anchored in his own time, as shown by the presence of numerous pop themes typical of the 1970s. This present edition also includes the exquisite title song performed by the main actors, playing a deliberate retro pastiche card.

Music Box Records is very pleased to present the two unreleased scores composed by Claude Bolling in their first-ever complete presentations. Limited to 350 units, this release has been fully remastered from the session tapes and includes an 8-page booklet with liner notes by Nicolas Magenham, discussing the film and the score.

Does this collaboration with Sugar imply that Music Box Records will continue to release recordings from the Pema/C.A.M. catalogue?
Will Music Box 'carry on' where Disques Cinemusique left off? (DC ceased production of compact discs)

Good news about more unreleased music by Bolling.

However, Music Box doesn't release much from the 1960s; will the French EPs from the '60s containing Bolling music (Constance aux enfers, Le jour et l'heure, les aventures de salavin, moi et les hommes de 40 ans, du mou dans la gachette ou deux tueurs, vivre la nuit, etc.) ever be reissued by Music Box or any other label?
Can 1960's The Hands Of Orlac be done?

If Music Box loves the 1970s, then will Pierre Jansen's 1976 Alice ou la dernière fugue ever get an album issued?

I think that Music Box is the only label at the moment which may/could/will release Jansen's ALICE OU LA DERNIÈRE FUGUE on CD in the near future. Of course, they could also couple it with NUIT D'OR from 1976 which is also owned by Sugar. So I hope that they will indeed release such a CD.
But everything certainly depends on how good or how poor the sales were for their previous Jansen album with L'ÉTAT SAUVAGE/LE GRAND FRÈRE.

Pierre Jansen´s NUIT D´OR is now finally available on this 3 CD set "Les B.O. Introuvables - Vol. 3":

It seems that Music Box doesn´t even deem it necessary anymore to announce the set - which is of course limited to only 300 copies - on this board as there may be too few people here interested in something like this. Their Facebook website is probably sufficient for them.
To get the Jansen score now one has to buy a lot of other scores on this set - most of them formerly on LPs in the 70s/80s - which may or may not be to one´s own taste.
I suppose that for NUIT D´OR at least an album master of the old RCA LP (which had Jansen´s LA DÉCADE PRODIGIEUESE on side B) could be found as the tracks on the CD set are the same ones.
It is a pity that the tapes for ALICE OU LA DERNIÈRE FUGUE are probably lost - otherwise it could have been coupled wiith NUIT D´OR on one CD.

Yes, good news about Nuit d'or and Ce Cher Victor, although I already have decent LP transfers and I'm not much interested in the other scores on the compilation.
