I buy very very few scores on spec anymore. I don't really know why, but something about this intrigued me. So, when I placed my order for the new batch of Varese Club scores, I took a chance and ordered MOMENTUM. I knew zero about the score or composer, but I generally like action scores (although I prefer silver age to modern ones, in the main). Well, it arrived and I gave it a listen. Pleasantly surprised. As noted, it is a mix of electronic and orchestral, but it is a good blend. I also like the fact that unlike most of today's action scores, it is not a solid wall of brass. The percussion is well-used and there is actual melody to be heard. I'm looking forward to seeing the film to see how it works there, but it's a good stand-alone listen. Glad I took a chance.
